Of the 10 teams in the top 10 at the first of the year, 5 are done. Canyon and Muleshoe didnt get in the playoffs and Greenwood, Ballinger, and Graham went out in the first round. Everman, Kennedale, Sweetwater, Decatur and Snyder are all still in. The darkhorse, Merkel, is also still playing.

When are people going to stop overrating Canyon? Two years in 3A and everybody keeps thinking they are going to be one of the best because they came down from 4A. Obviously they arent so they better not get any credit next year until they earn it on the field!

Any team that has that happen the first two games is not going to play to their full potential. What if Burnet lost McGee and Shipley in the first two weeks? Decatur loses Dane and Christian? It would have been a different season methinks.

You have 10 other guys on the field besides a QB plus a defense. Can NOBODY else make a play besides the QB?

Come now.. If you give a team high rankings primarily because of a QB then your not so smart. No, I believe they were very highly over ranked. Were is the Defense here and can they not run the ball?

well..im kinda double sided on this point....for a passing team like canyon or decature....losing the first and 2nd string QB's could be disastrous...we lost our starter, but have still done good, our defense helps out alot...if they cant score, THEY CANT WIN!

In fact, you will never win without points on the board. So does defense (presuming they do not score themselves) really win the game? No not really. Offense must score (Or special teams or the "D") cause no points on the board means no victory.

I'm gonna have to stick up for canyon last year they should have bet us. If they would have played power football they would have easily beat us but they tried to pass the ball. When they would run the football up the middle between the tackles they were getting 6 or 7 yards a carry with there 230lbs fullback. If they would have beat us they might have won the state championship.
