2018 Regional Playoff: Jasper (12-0) vs West Orange-Stark (8-4)

WO-S and Jasper will meet for the 8th time ever in the playoffs and the 6th time ever playing twice in the same season. WO-S holds a large lead having a 6-1 record against Jasper in the playoffs with the only loss coming in 1994. Throw all the records out this year though. Jasper won the first matchup in game 6 this season 34-24 and it very well should have been 41-24 as they kneeled on the WO-S goal line to end the game and they are currently 12-0 compared to WO-S with an 8-4 record. This is a huge rivalry game dating back to their first meetings in 1986 and both programs respect each other immensely. Jasper will certainly be the favorite by all the pundits but history is in the favor of WO-S. WO-S started out the season slowly with a 2-4 record but their losses were to #1 3A Newton, #1 4A Jasper, and 5A teams Nederland and Crosby. Since then they've won 6 games in a row and have not allowed a TD yet in the playoffs.

If Hunt returns at full speed, he is the edge against any team. No one has stopped him all year. WOS couldn't stop him (or catch him once in the open) when they surely knew he would be getting the football. Don't see it being different this time. But I fear that even if he plays that he will not be 100%. So as a homer, I picked Jasper to win, but in my gut I think this is actually a toss-up game. I think other than for Hunt, the teams are pretty equal. Without doubt, WOS has improved overall since their first meeting; but so has Jasper.

Good luck to both teams, and may it be an injury free game. Both teams have had more than their share of injuries.

I think WOS is pretty healthy except for the QB which suffered from a concussion against Sweeny.The sophomore will step in this game. I think he played a limited role in our first game with the dawgs.He is the better passer but not much of a runner.With the injuries for both teams I don't see to much tweaking to compensate for them.Going to stay with what brought you here I would think.I know the kids for both teams are ready and as a fan I'm on pens & needles to say the least.These two have had some epic battles and I'm looking forward to another one this Friday.

I agree. It should be a close, hard fought game. I would be seriously surprised if either team won in a romp.
