How can something like this happen without the Yoakum coaches not knowing? Don't they check the locker room last after all the players exit??? I'm fairly certain those coaches knew something on the way back to Yoakum on the bus......they had to have known. Shame on Yoakum players and coaches......this is totally unforgiveable of them. I'll guarantee the players also had knowledge of what parties were responsible. I wonder if there will be some suspensions in order for those players in the upcoming playoff game(s). Yoakum plays Columbus this week.

BTW......I'm just assuming since it was the players that last used this locker room.....that the damaged occurred at the time they were using it. The article says there is video evidence from the security cameras......Uh Oh.

The article says the damage was discovered after the game Friday night by one of Goliad's junior high coaches assigned to clean up the dressing room. If the Yoakum coaches......any of them......were aware of this incident, you would have to think they should have made a call to Goliad's athletic department with an apology before the story was released in the Victoria Advocate on Monday. The article infers that no such contact was made.......that's even worse!! The only other possible explanation is that someone trashed this locker room AFTER the team AND Yoakum coaches exited.......meaning the Yoakum football team is completely innocent of any vandalism of this locker room.

Statement from Yoakum superintendent Tom Kelley:

Yoakum ISD has launched an investigation into the vandalizing of the Goliad locker room after the game between Yoakum and Goliad on Friday night. This conduct does not conform with the high standards that Yoakum ISD sets for its students. Although friendly community rivalries can be entertaining, this type of conduct has no place in interscholastic competition. Yoakum ISD will address this situation in accordance with the YISD Student Code of Conduct. Due to federal education privacy laws, the district cannot comment more specifically.

The district has offered to pay for the damage and sincerely apologizes to Goliad ISD, its administrators, employees, students and families. Yoakum ISD wishes Goliad ISD well in its upcoming playoff game.

What are the ramifications for the upcoming playoff game(s).....if any......and does the UIL have any rules in place to cover this kind of incident? What if some of the culprits of this incident were players that should have been suspended for any upcoming games and they played? What would happen in this circumstance?

I wasn’t at the game but have two nephews who play for Yoakum. I do know some of the coaches including the HC Bo Robinson. Who ever did this, will be punished severely because there is No reason for that kind of behavior. It’s good they have video so they can pin point exactly who to punish. If Bo knew of this damage he would of contacted the Goliad HC before they left Goliad, because Bo will not stand for crap like this.

It was really stupid for all kinds of reasons......but just for a football reason the chances Goliad and Yoakum will meet in the playoffs in 2 weeks is very high. That alone shows how stupid this act was......but let's face it.......sometimes teenage boys lose their composure and those male hormones go to work. I guess someone had difficulty controlling his emotions and didn't have the common sense to direct them in a different manner. He or they will pay dearly for their foolish behavior. Chalk it up to another life lesson learned.....I hope.

There is no way this will be made public. Privacy laws prevent a school from releasing information about students. None of your business even if you think you are entitled to know. You'll just have to listen to rumors. Students privacy come first for a reason, they are a minor and schools have rules to go by. Just have to trust the Coach and Administration will handle it. Not trying to be ugly, but the world of media we live in wants INSTANT gratification and has created an atmosphere where we have some kind of RIGHT to know. Incorrect.

Hard to believe players from Yoakum would do this as they would have had to know they would be caught. On the other hand who benefits from this? Let's see how the investigation goes before assigning blame to Yoakum, one of the classiest teams in the region.

Not sure about that in this type of scenario. It's a criminal misdemeanor......vandalism......which means Goliad ISD has every right to know the specifics of the guilty party and the punishment doled out. Besides....the player(s) name(s) need to be made public so that any suspensions doled out can be validated during the playoffs. Otherwise......where is our checks and balances system in adherence to UIL rules......especially during the playoffs?

LH Panther Mom

I saw a reporter video and the Sheriff dept is reviewing the security footage. If criminal charges are filed, this is no longer a school or team problem. If there were minors involved, legally their names can't be released. It's not the public's business who is behind this. If any culprits were 17, there may be some mention in local publications, depending on the types of stories covered. But if minors, again, it can only mention the story and not the person(s). Trust the system.

It's such a shame that this happened! Sometimes stupidity takes over.

What I was told the player in question has been kicked off the team and placed in AEP which banned him from all school functions.
He was not a starter but he did play some during the game. There’s no excuse for this kind of behavior for any reason. As far as if he has been charged with vandalism, I have no idea, but the Yoakum Supt has offered the Goliad any asst he needs to remedy this situation. This is a shame because this is absolutely not what Yoakum ISD and its coaches expect out of any of their students and athletes.

As a matter of fact......I do have a horse in this race. Goliad is my hometown and my alma mater......so I follow them and care very much. Is that Ok with everybody now??? Besides......it's very important to the other schools playing in these playoffs that may face Yoakum to know which player(s) were responsible and suspended......duh!!! True story Pudlugger......Columbus is a much improved team from early in the season when they were defeated by a large margin by Goliad. They have some huge linemen on both sides of the ball and some quality skill players. Yoakum will have their work cut out for them in this opening round for sure.....just like Goliad will against Hitchcock with all the injuries that Goliad has sustained. Goliad has been playing without their star QB and RB for about 5 weeks now.....Logan Bland(RB/DE/6-1, 230, Sr.) did play at about 80% last week. Don't know if or when QB Rocky Morris(5-11, 175/Sr.) will try to come back and play with that broken right collar bone he sustained 7 weeks ago......maybe this week. MLB Reitz(6-2, 220, Sr) and Dontavion Clay(6-0, 180/WR/DB, Sr.) are back playing again.....they were out 3-4 games also. As was several other starters for Goliad. Goliad has been playing with backups for the entire district play season.....most fairweather fans of Texas High School football don't know that.

It was done and all the players and coaches were on the buses ready to leave when this kid said he left something in the locker room.
This kid has never been a bad kid so apparently the coaches trusted him to go get what he left and get back on the bus. I have two nephews on the Yoakum team and that is what happened. I have no idea why this kid did that because he’s never done anything like that before. He’s no longer on the team and Yoakum ISD will bear the expense of a stupid act by a kid. Just stupid!

Maybe he got his jock handed to him out on the field by some of the Goliad players and thought this would be a good way to "get even". I wonder what he used to slash and cut those padded seats? Knives are not allowed on school grounds.

Still does not sound right plus the pics show trash and tape all over the floor. So they ley a kid go back unescorted? Did he find what was left behind? Sorry for being cynical but that just does not sound right!

Funny thing is that if the Coaches had done their job and cleaned and checked the locker room none of this would have happened. Plain and simple the locker room was trashed and the floor should have not looked like it did in the Pics.

This is a very unfortunate situation. I will say I give kudos to YISD Supt Tom Kelley for speaking up from damn near the get go, accepting liability and payment for damages. Doesn't change the situation but at least he didn't hide, and Lord Have Mercy, we've seen MANY officials in the past hide, etc.
My hope is that Goliad ISD is able to get their property 100% repaired (and hopefully apologized to) the guilty person (s) (and anyone that aided in the situation) be held accountable and the world starts turning again. There are fine folks on both ends of this situation and the head guy (Supt) in Yoakum, I believe is trying to do the right thing.. Let's give it a chance.....

Here's the latest according to my brother who lives in Goliad. The crime scene is still being investigated and it has been determined that there is no way only one person could do the damage that was inflicted to the visitor's locker room at the Goliad Athletic Center.....7 yrs. old now. 38 padded seats were slashed and ripped, all the toilets were jammed up and overflowing, a Yoakum Football tray of some sort was shattered into pieces, the water cooler was pulled out of the wall, and just the mess of the entire locker room.....it was obvious that this kind of destruction had to be the work of several or a group. There is no way that Coach Bo Robinson did not know......and further more he left the scene without a word to anybody from the Goliad side. Not only that, but Goliad's coach Bobby Nicholson(a former Yoakum coach under Robinson) said if this sort of thing happened on his watch, Goliad would simply forfeit the rest of the season. But that's not what happened......so far no word publicly from HC Bo Robinson......everything is being done thru Yoakum Superintendent. Sounds to me like there are some guilty parties here on this Yoakum squad that plan to be playing that game against Columbus.....a coverup......that's what it's beginning to look like to me. Right is right and wrong is wrong as long as the day is long. It doesn't take Rocket Science to conclude something is rotten here. I'm hearing this information thru my brother that is a reliable source living in Goliad and has close ties to some of the locals that are Tigers Boosters. There is more to this story than is being let out......more to come. From now on.....any game Yoakum plays in will require 2 security guards in the locker room.....not the right punishment, for sure. More to come on this story.......

They fired him. I'm not the one that caused this unlawful destruction of Goliad ISD Athletic Center property......your beloved Yoakum Bulldogs did and that Head Coach Bo Robinson is and should rightly so be held accountable......end of story all day long and on Sundays too!! It's readily apparent that he even tried to divert the attention of this shaningan and keep it as quiet as possible......not even alerting anyone whatsoever from the Goliad side. What kind of man is that for a Head Coach/AD, Huh? You need to put your questions to someone other than me......I'm just reporting what so many others should be......and letting those that are trying to circumvent correctness know that there are some serious issues here that need to come to light. It's all about what is correct and ethical.....after the fact. I for one and probably there are many others that will agree that there is no way only one player is responsible for all of these damages. But what did the Yoakum ISD do so far, Huh? It's what it is......and I'm here to call it what it is......a coverup. And if you don't like it......too bad Bluecat!!! Somebody over in Yoakum.....perhaps quite a few connected with that program......need to go take a loooong look in the mirror. Go find somebody else to blame.....it's not Goliad or regaleagle. The worst part of this whole affair is that those who worked so hard and toiled so much to gain the support and respect of the community, the student body, opponents, and peers.....the many good people from Yoakum.......have to suffer for the actions of a few. The damages inflicted upon the athletic center of Goliad is nothing compared to the damages self-inflicted upon the Yoakum football program, the Yoakum ISD, and the Yoakum community as a whole. It's a shame for all of those that are totally innocent and caught in the middle of this unbelievable situation. Just read the Nov.17 article. It is still not believable that a kid caused this damage just retrieving an item. This in on the Adult leaders. How does one person flood and plug the toilets and rip a fountain off the wall much less slash 38 seats? How did the Adult leaders leave all the trash on the floor? The Sheriff's Dept. thinks the broken pieces from the plastic Yoakum tray were used to slash the leather custom seats. It also goes on to say that "more than one" of the suspects has already been identified and a grand jury is being assembled. They are waiting to hear back from Yoakum's internal investigation first before preceding. It's been two weeks on Friday. They are referring to this as a felony crime scene against the Goliad ISD.

GISD Superintendent Dave Plymale estimates the damage at nearly $4,700 – including $1,900 for cleaning and disinfecting.

That equates to almost $150 in damage every minute. Both Plymale and sheriff’s office deputies say more than one person was involved in the vandalism.

Hey, bluecat, what's with this? I thought it was only one kid?

Breaking News from The Victoria Advocate:

An 18-year-old Yoakum High School student was arrested Tuesday in connection with vandalism to a locker room at Goliad High School on Nov. 10.

Brennen Jarod Hall, a member of the Yoakum High School football team, was booked into the Goliad County Jail Tuesday afternoon, according to a news release fron Goliad County Sheriff's office Capt. John Pape.

At least one additional arrest involving a juvenile is anticipated and the investigation is not yet complete, according to the news release.

Hall was charged with one count of felony criminal mischief in connection with the vandalism. He was subsequently released on a $3,000 bond set by Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Steven Kennedy

Hall was arrested in Yoakum by District Attorney Investigator John Schlinger and taken to Goliad for booking. He was arrested on a warrant issued by Kennedy earlier that day, according to the news release.

The Goliad County Sheriff’s Office and the 24th Judicial District Attorney’s Office jointly investigated the case.

An estimated $4,700 in damage was done to the visitor’s locker room at Goliad High School following the Goliad – Yoakum football game on Nov. 9. Damage included the slashing of more than 30 custom-made locker seat cushions, ripped down shower curtains, a drinking fountain ripped away from the wall, and a large amount of mud and debris ground into the carpet. Urine was also found throughout the locker room area, requiring the school district to disinfect the area before it could be used again.

The offense involved is a state jail felony and carries a punishment range of 180 days to 2 years in prison, and a fine of not more than $10,000.

Sorry for the Yoakum team that a handful of bad players have soiled the entire teams' season along with Goliad's field house.

At least I hope there were some innocent players who didn't tear up the place.

Pape also refuted a theory that Goliad students had entered or contributed to the vandalism after the locker area was vacated.

Hi bluecat!
You see I was right all along, 1 varsity player that only played on special teams, the other kid was never on varsity.
As I have said all along it was only one varsity player. I have no idea where the other story about Goliad people came from.

They know who did it, got him on video.

Dang Regal, your quite the drama queen!
They all seen the video, they know who did it and he’s been kicked off the team and Yoakum ISD is paying to repair all damages.
Regal, what did they ever do with that Goliad coach who got drunk, drove is car into the side of that house and caught it on fire?

Regal, the supts and the authority’s have the video. They are in charge of the investigation and all parties involved are doing what needs to be done to remedy this situation. Anyone or everyone who caused this damage Will be held accountable. Rumors, inneuendo, and smears do nothing to remedy this situation.
Good luck in the playoffs.

Looks like your story shifted from one to now it may be others to yea it is two. I would not be surprised that more are involved due to the nature of the damages. If a Grand Jury gets involved it will not bode well.

There is no way the coaches did not have a clue.

I'm certain there are a good majority of innocent that were caught in the middle of this fiasco. Just like all the innocent supporters from the community. It's a bad reflection on those that are given responsibility to be a mentor and leader of these players. Obviously, something caused this kind of reaction and somehow those involved didn't give their actions any cause to fear accountability. That part doesn't speak well for those in charge.....does it?

It's also a sore spot with the Goliad side that the Yoakum coaching staff has never come forward with an apology......all of the verbage has come from the Yoakum Supt. In fact, not much came forward for several weeks until just before this game this week with Goliad. I find that very interesting also.

Brennan Hall(5-2, 150/Sr.) RB. Why would a bench player that is obviously not a starter become so upset with a 3 point loss to Goliad in the final seconds and do so much damage to their locker room??? Doesn't sound very logical that this kind of player would be so involved, does it? I doubt if he even saw any action in this very close game for the district title. Very interesting indeed......just sayin'. Draw your own conclusions.

The only other possible reason to do criminal mischief was to make a statement or something personal against the Yoakum coaching staff to make them look bad. But that does not excuse the Yoakum coaching staff from being the last to leave the locker room and allowing any of the team access without oversight.

I doubt that's even close to the reason he did it. I just can't see him sitting somewhere thinking ".....hmm how can I Make the coach look bad ?... I know,I know, I'll tear up a locker room! That should do it!" LOL

Shows you don't know all the facts. It will all come out in the legal process.

Okay......we are waiting for the truth. You may not know the real truth either, YT.....ever consider that??? Alot of things can become muddled and hidden in the "legal process". It's a shame this whole incident occurred and that things have escalated to this point. Don't blame the messenger.....most of what I have reported has so far been proven to be factual. I've been on this earth for 64 yrs and have a little bit of common sense......give me credit for that at least.

Besides......Yoakum is the school that has not been forthcoming in all of this mess, not the Goliad side. And all wrapped up in a playoff scenario with the football program. Goliad vs Yoakum tonight in Cuero. We beat you guys last time without our starting star QB Rocky Morris......tonight you will get the full flavor of a healthy Goliad Tiger team this season. Perhaps we can end Yoakum's misery of this ongoing nightmare that is haunting your community with a big win.
