There could actually be a big mess in multiple districts if 4 of the teams finish with 2-2 records. Quality points would probably be used and good teams might be left out of the playoffs. Especially that there are multiple 4 team districts in 4A with potentially subpar teams making the playoffs. The UIL needs to have a larger number of schools in 4A if there are going to have split divisions. Just got to thinking about this because 1 win might not make the playoffs from these 5 team districts.

I wish my team was in a 5-team district.....4-team districts shouldn't even be allowed to happen!

The motto of Texas is for all intents and purposes "Go big or go home." That is true in high school enrollments. Lots of big schools, lots of small schools, and not a lot in between (4A). That is why 4A is so small. Making 4A bigger would mean putting Denison (small 5A) and Bonham (big 3A) in the same district by expanding the enrollment range. Creating a Class 7A and bumping up the biggest of the biggest would help down the line.

Not necessarily because 15-20 schools with extensions both ends of enrollment would not really affect things too much. The problem is the split divisions in football. A range of 490-1200 might work. Maybe not? Couldn't hurt to try though.

UIL wants a certain # of school's in 6A and 5A and 4A, 3A, 2A get the rest.

Gonzales is the smallest school in 15=4A D 1. It does in fact have about 40 students less than it had at re-alignment last year. In other words, it is a D2 school playing in D1. Every school in the district has between 2 and 3 hundred more students in their school. Apaches will keep on plugging though and chances are good will be in the playoffs.

to add 15 schools at the top end of 4A would cause the cut line to jump from 1146 to 1240....almost 100 students....Marble Falls at 1240 is the 15th smallest 5A.....if you went up five more you'd have Fort Bend Marshall at 1264 in 4A....120 students in 4A football is fairly significant...

Remember UIL realignment isn't just about football..its about all the other sports and the UIL tries to keep things as close to a 2:1 ratio as possible for equitable competition in all extra-cirricular activities

I dont mind the smaller districts as it means more meaningful games down the stretch...yes some bad teams get into the playoffs but they'll get dismissed quickly in bi-district...

Actually dropping the bottom end back to 500 and increasing top end to 1200 (which it probably do anyway) would probably do it anyway. Lots of things happen in the 2 years. The new Garden Ridge school will probably start in 4A like Judson Vets did. Austin ISD is changing things up. The LASA school is moving away from LBJ making it a medium 4A. Don't know if the changes will happen by 2020 though.
