La Grange defense has really been playing well the last two games holding Taylor and Brookshire scoreless. On offense the Lep running game looks strong with three good rbs with speed and athletic ability. Of course a running game is only as good as the O line. The Lep O line has good size averaging around 250-260 across all 5 positions and have been getting off the LOS quickly and sustaining their blocks well creating good holes for the backs to get into the defensive secondary. The passing game has improved with short play action and swing passes but so far the long routes have not been very productive. With fewer penalties and turnovers at this point in the season I like our chances in district. Leps by 21.

La Grange defense played lights out in a mud bowl. The Hornets played a good game with a scrappy defense but the Leps stopped them on 4th downs three times. A blocked punt recovered by LG in the endzone accounted for the only score in the first half as both offenses struggled mired down in mud. Game ball goes to the Leopard defense in this one. Now we have Smithville at home. Leps go 5-1.

Caldwell struggles on special teams. Special teams is very important and should never be overlooked.

Very true about special teams. The Leps have been outstanding on STs play so far this season. We have Alan Orona #8 our kicker a Texas Tech commit who kicks into the endzone and punts 50 yards no sweat. He hasn't missed on PATs this season. Giddings always has good kickers and STs and their win last night in overtime with a FG underscores how important that is. As Caldwell struggles in the kicking game they opted to go for it on 4th down and long a couple of times inside their own 40 and failed. I give their coaches credit for gutsy play though as they went with an onsides kick in the opening KO and caught our up guys off guard. A slippery football in the mud and all led to a Hornet recovery. That was our only turnover all night.
