You have to think about who the teams have lost to in the long run. Records may not look pretty but they will be tough outs come playoff time.

I don't think the DII is weaker this year just that the powerhouse teams that have dominated in recent years like WOS, Gilmer, Wimberley and Cuero are having a bit of a struggle. Meanwhile other teams like Lorena, Sweeny, Glen Rose and Pleasant Grove are doing very well. Paradigm shift maybe but not a sign of weakness IMO.

And weak considering that DCTF is still predicting a 2-3 team in an obvious down year (who lost by double digits to a 3A D2 school) to still play for state....

I don't think the DII is weaker this year just that the powerhouse teams that have dominated in recent years like WOS, Gilmer, Wimberley and Cuero are having a bit of a struggle. Sweeny has a solid team but this isn’t typical state champ material. They may win it all this year though because there’s no elite teams in D2

Newton could beat any team in 4A D2 this year the way they are looking. We held them to 21 points, was 7-0 at halftime. They put 50+ points on both Silsbee and Gilmer. This 2-3 team lost to the #1 team in 3A and two top 10 teams in 5A. Feel free to underestimate us. Happy to be coasting under the radar.

We take everyone serious no matter if they are undefeated or winless. If you are not prepared for your opponent you will be getting the L at the end of the night.
