Will Brownwood bounce back after being embarrassed by Brock, or will Snyder roll to 2-0?

Snyder hasn't really been relevant in a few years......anybody know if their program is back on the rise???

Maybe the best thing that could happen to the Lions this season is that first-game whackin' they took last week. Sometimes it takes something like that to wake up some teenage boys and make them work harder to become the best they can be.

Snyder by quite a bit. Maybe 21 or so.

Final score, 31-21 Snyder. Good start to the season for the Tigers. Always good to beat Brownwood. So good that I had to login and post it!

Saw a little bit of the Brownwood game on TV last week and they looked bad-this honestly doesn’t surprise

Umm looking at Brownwood’s schedule, this could easily be an 0-10 year..

I was thinking the exact same thing.

I'm officially off the Brownwood bandwagon for this season......sorry to say. Looks like they have some areas that will require lots of work and some seasoning. Need to add more salt for a better flavor to savor......just sayin'.

It appears so. Snyder was more than likely the most winnable game on the schedule. Very surprising.

But, how is the talent level overall in Brownwood?

Something is wrong there.....when Maxfield left for Bangs that should tell you something. Also 3 coaches in 4 years is not a blueprint for success.

Seems like that could be the case. You have expectations like a top tier program (Argyle, Carthage, Gilmer, Cameron Yoe, Newton, Mart, etc.) but do you have the talent like you did back in the 70s and 80s to sustain success.

I’m going to be as politically correct as I can. The demographics of Brownwood have changed significantly over the last 15 to 20 years. You no longer have the “athletes” but you now have the soccer players. Same can be said for most West Texas teams. Odessa is not the same as the Odessa of the 80’s.

I think that’s a factor but not the main problem there. The last 5 years west Texas teams like Sweetwater, Andrews, and Monahans have been successful with a lot more “soccer players” than Brownwood. And you’re right.....Odessa now is not the Odessa in the 80’s.

Brownwood has talent, but one of the worst O-Lines I've ever seen in our history. I'm not sure if the 4th quarter will be an indicator from the Snyder game, but there's a good shot of us moving to a T or I formation and away from the spread.

Regarding Maxfield, I don't want to say anything too bad about him,he's a solid coach, but his play calling left a lot to be desired. Last year people were very frustrated with how mediocre we were with all the talent we had. On top of that blowing the game vs. Hirschi in the playoffs last year, he probably left because he saw the writing on the wall. Bangs had an opening, low expectations. I think most of us in his shoes would do the same and go after job security over prestige.

Brownwood has had the players and talent over the past few years to make a push for state, but has underperformed. This year seems to be reminiscent of 2011 and 2012, good talented classes graduating, and another one that can't quite live up. Combine that with a schedule that could spell trouble for any team in 4A, and this shouldn't be a huge surprise.
