It was a open Sinton had only 9 games. They did try getting games for that week with Calallen but Calallen already had Needville and reach out to some east texas teams. Progreso step up and fill the spot but then change their mind and drop us. Bruni was just added about month ago. Week 3 was not the normal open they had, it was week 6.

Some good players that have some experience now, pretty much all the starters backs and 6'5 somewhere around there at 300 lbs + lineman Mustangs will be alot better. Games mostly likely going to be close in district this season with maybe only Robstown a breather game.

I think uou are talking about the Johnson kid. Center/Defensive tackle. He is a beast. He had a good year last year when he was a junior. I think he could have a fantastic year as a senior.

Few Sinton plays from their scrimmage. Both qb's (sr) Brett Brown and (so) Chris Arriaga were in both scoring drives. Only two possessions in this scrimmage, very short scrimmage. Overall looked ok. (jr) Robert Hughes was laying some hits on defense.

If it makes you feel any better, Port Isabel is also struggling down in D16. Only 10 points scored so far by the Tarpons in 2 losses (3-14 and 7-34). But the Tarpons went through a very late coaching change and are learing a new system. Sinton shouldn't be struggling! They did not have 7 turnovers like the first week. Defense actually made adjustments at halfime and the offensive line actually opened up some holes for the run game.

Chris Garcia was the backup last season but was needed at WR more so coaching staff gave it a shot with Brown and soph Arriaga. Arriaga injury looked bad so not sure how long he is out but hearing they'll give Garcia the nod upcoming game. Also heard their best threat would be ready to go but was denied again by the UIL so not sure if it's being appeal. I look over the scrimmages and two games especially the last one so many times unblock defenders coming in free into backfield. Defense just out there to long they need the offense to get some first downs which hasn't happen. It's looking like 1-4 entering district but i still feel the kids are there to turn it around.

I agree with this. Both Rockport and Sinton will turn on the jets once district play rolls around. Of the two, I believe Rockport is better. IMO, Orange Grove and Sinton are pretty even even though the records don't indicate it.

I think Ingleside will beat West Oso for the 4th spot.

Whoever wins the district will get Progreso in Round 1. Progreso is, well.....Progreso. They lost to Hidalgo last night 10-7. Hidalgo's first win in over 2 years.

Rio Hondo, even though they're unbeaten, has shown in their last 2 games that their defense is suspect. Case in point, gave up 42 to La Grulla last night, and gave up 33 to Brownsville St. Joseph the previous week. Keep that St. Joe score in mind!

Raymondville has blown out their last few opponents (45-10 over Kingsville last week) after a Week 1 loss to La Feria

Port Isabel is coming on strong. After some opening losses to Brownsville Porter and Pharr Valley View, who is also unbeaten btw, have begun to play well, especially on defense. Last night they shut out Brownsville St. Joseph 37-0. The very same Brownsville St. Joseph team that dropped 33 on unbeaten Rio Hondo two weeks ago. PI also gave La Feria a massive scare the previous week taking the Lions to the 4th Qtr tied at 14 before a fumbled punt return was converted to a TD for La Feria that turned out to be the game winner.

They don't have the big time play makers, they lost two of them in Devin Orta to Alice and Brandon Gonzales that was rule ineligible so transfer back to Victoria West both were key players to this sr group. They have some soph and jrs gaining experience and sr group improving.

They'll pick it up starting with Rockport{i know Bruni is next but won't get much credit in that game if they show improvement there), they will be playing better by playoff time.

There is no doubt coach Allen will put a good unit together and the Sinton Pirates will put together a good showing in district.

With that said ill take the RF pirates by 20 for their first win over Sinton in 4? seasons. When Tyler Handson was a senior. Jay Seiberts first year i think. Over a hundred points in that game.

Sinton should win. Robstown does not have any offense. They have only scored 26 points. However, their defense has allowed the fewest points in our district. Could be a closer game than we think.

Thoughts on this weeks matchups?

Rockport has homecoming distractions against what looks to be a decent Oso team.

Ingleside squares up against an OG squad that can point up points in a hurry. Ingleside has already given up 35+ points 3 times this season.

Sinton takes on Robstown. Not sure what to think of this one. There are few things i love more than seeing RF beat Sinton, but ill say that its not fun seeing Sinton this weak. Hope they can keep improving and take care of Robstown.

Raymondville has all but locked up the #1 seed out of D16 aftrr their dominant performance tonight over Port Isabel.

To whoever clinches the 4 seed out of D15, pray to whatever God you pray to that you don’t play at Raymondville in the first round of the playoffs. That announcer of theirs has to be the most annoying one I have ever experienced in my 41 years of existence.

Sinton JV won against Orange Grove last night and win district and finish 8-2 for season.
Sinton freshman won against Rockport-Fulton 26-23 last night to win district, their first meeting Rockport Fulton won on the last play of the game with Sinton up. Sinton freshman finish 7-3 on the year.

Seedings for 2-4 won't be determine til after West Oso at Ingleside and Sinton at Orange Grove games are finals.

Orange Grove wins and they're in, seeding will be decided on outcome of West Oso/Ingleside game.
Orange Grove loses by less than 10 points they're in if West Oso loses as the 3rd seed.
Orange Grove loses by 10+ points they're out of the playoffs.

Sinton loses they're out.
Sinton wins by less than 10 points they're out if West Oso loses to Ingleside as that would put Orange Grove, West Oso and Sinton tied, Sinton would lose in point differance from the 3.
Sinton wins by less than 10 points they're the 4th seed if West Oso wins against Ingleside. That would put West Oso #2 seed, Ingleside #3 seed and Siinton 4th seed as they'll finish tied with Orange Grove but have the head to head advantage.
Sinton wins by 10+ they're in no matter the outcome of Ingleside and West Oso. If West Oso loses that would put them tied with Orange Grove and Sinton and the point differance would favor Sinton for the 4th seed and West Oso the 3rd seed and Orange Grove out of the playoffs.

Rockport should blow out Progreso, though the Red Ants are known to punch you in the mouth at the start of the game. Cases in point, 6-3 vs. PI in the 1st, and 14-14 vs. RH in the 2nd before RH pulled away.

OG played Raymondville very tough earlier this season.

PI will be looking for payback vs. "The Howling Bear" since Oso eliminated PI from playoff contention last season.

Only game that is pretty much a lock is RF/Progreso, rest could be toss ups. Will most likely see Ingleside game

Sinton season comes to an end at 2-8 missing the playoffs for the first time since 2007, Coach Tom Allen first season at Sinton. Sinton graduates 14 seniors and the team played one of their better games in first half leading into half 19-14 with a chance for the playoffs with a win. Orange Grove came back out strong and big 4th qtr putting the game away winning 56-37. Here's good portion of the game
