Ricker gives up a run-scoring double to the first man he faces. Jasper scores their 3rd run. Ricker goes full and walks the next batter......thought he had him on 2-2 count. Runners on 1st and 2nd and one out. Scoreboard reads 96 degrees.....at least 5 degrees hotter on the field.

Full count again on Victor Wiliams of Jasper now. Ball 4 loads the bases.....just a tad high. Ricker is just a little off.....not getting the calls on the corners and at the chest. Still just one out.....pinch hitter in for Jasper now.

Preston King up for Argyle in the bottom of the 5th. Leadoff walk for Argyle. Attempted bunt gets King to 2nd base.....the ball got away from the catcher momentarily.

Ricker up now for Argyle.....hits from the left side.....they walk him too. Here comes the Jasper coach out. Looks like a pitching change to the #2 starter Ben Jensen for Jasper.
Runners on 1st and 2nd now with no outs and a new pitcher coming to the mound for Jasper.

Jensen is 9-0 on the season. Dillon Carter up for Argyle. Attempted bunt and pulls it back. 1-1 count now....now another ball inside to Carter.

Ground ball to the first baseman as he fields it and gets to the bag on a diving stop......moves both runners up with one out now. He saved at least one run on that diving play.

Intentional walk to Bryson Hudgens loads the bases for Hayden Clearman. A hit thru the hole scores one run and now here comes another one on a sliding close play......he's safe as Clearman ends up on 2nd. Argyle scores 2 on that RBI hit by Clearman.

Another intentional walk to load the bases as Soph. CF Alex Gonzalez comes to the plate. Hard liner goes foul. Base hit by Gonzo and two runs score. 2 run RBI single for Gonzo as he moves up to 2nd now while no one was covering 2nd.

Liner out to right field gets Durand to 3rd base as Soison doubles. No outs and runners on 2nd & 3rd for Jasper.

Ground ball to Preston King at 2nd for an easy play.....but the ball comes out of his hand when he pulls it out of the glove as he bobbles it......the runner is safe as one run scores. Not your typical throwing error. Brendan Dixon at shortstop fields a high popup for the 2nd out.....runners at the corners.

Lined down the right field line for a foul.....1-2 count to Carter now. Fly ball to center field for an easy out. King holds at 2nd.....2 outs now. Bryson Hudgens up now.....he walked last time up.

Jensen is high to Hudgens on the first pitch. Another ball.....2-0 to Hudgens.....the big tight end on the football team for Argyle. A big swing and miss by Bryson on that one.

Fouled back into the stands to even the count now. Jensen throws it....a liner off the wall and rounds 2nd for a 2-out RBI double to left field.

Clearman up now and hits it a shot up the middle for a single to center. Runners on the corners now for Argyle. Clearman is the qb on the football team. Austin King the catcher for Argyle is up now.

Clearman steals 2nd base.....they don't throw it with Hudgens on 3rd. A big swing and miss by King....2-1 count. Here's another shot to center as Hudgens score. Now Clearman is coming and the throw is off as King advances to 2nd base for a 2-RBI single on that shot.

Gonzo hits it down the left field line as it goes to the wall.....he rounds 2nd and limps to 3rd for the triple.....but turned his ankle. Pinch runner for Gonzo. It's 13-4 now and he might have scored on that play to end this game on the run rule if he hadn't come up lame. Merka up now for Argyle.

A dominating performance at the plate for Argyle today......a little challenging on the mound for Argyle today. They go to 36-0 on the season.....very impressive win. 14 runs on 14 hits today for Argyle.

That's the 20th win by at least 10 runs for the Eagles this season.....most did not go 7 innings.

Argyle advances to the State Championship in Class 4A to play the winner of the upcoming State Semifinal between Godley and Sweeny here at Disch-Faulk Field in Austin.

The State Championship will begin at 6:30 pm here tomorrow night.

Bryson Hudgens......the only senior starter for Argyle.....will be the starting pitcher for Argyle tomorrow night. All the other players in the starting lineup for the Eagles are juniors and sophs.

I think the Eagles have 5 players with verbals to Division I schools on this team so far......Dixon, Bolin, Carter, King, and King. Hudgens has committed to Angelo State. I'm sure Ricker and some others will begin receiving offers soon.....if not already. Dixon, Bolin, Carter, King and brother King are all juniors. Even though Clearman is the QB.....he still likes baseball and is working hard toward a baseball scholarship. Gonzales and Merka are sophs. Clearman is a junior. I believe Ricker is also a junior.

Well.....it looks like only one team is left now that can spoil Argyle's perfect season. The Sweeny Bulldogs(35-5) will face the Argyle Eagles(36-0) tomorrow night starting at 6:30 Pm to decide which team will win the 2018 Class 4A State Baseball Championship at Disch-Falk Field in Austin. Good Luck to both teams.....it's been a long, hard-fought season to finally get to this game. All along since early in the season, Argyle and Sweeny have been ranked in the Top 3 teams in Class 4A. Godley was ranked #2 for quite a few weeks also. Sweeny just took them down......and now will try to take down the concensus #1 Team in Class 4A and #1 in many other high school baseball polls around the nation. Yep....Argyle is nationally ranked as the #1 Team in 3 national high school baseball polls.

Nope.......I'm in Corinth near Denton. I'll be watching the game on NFHS Network live at 6:30 today. We just had a major hailstorm hit down the road in Carrollton yesterday morning, but I'm taking off this afternoon to watch this State Championship game......the roofs can wait....LOL.
