Thats where you can order to get your magazine shipped..

We got to press tomorrow 3pm....typically its 2 1/2 weeks from submission to the printer to actually being at stores...fingers crossed those who subscribe and pre-order get it earlier....so I'd say AROUND June 20...

The cover will be revealed on Texas Football Today at Noon Tuesday

Hey Matt,

Are there any plans to have a comprehensive score/game history on the DCTF new Web site like what Lonestar used to have before they shut down ?

That would be a great feature in the subscription portion of the page.

Honestly, I think it looks terrible, and please don't take that personally because your columns are the only reason I go to that site.

Having 1/4th of the page occupied by the header seems suboptimal to me.

If you are a subscriber I anticipate you will get it around June 20....we are very hopeful we fixed the mailing issue..the goal is for subscribers to get the magazine about a week early...

If you prefer to go to the store I would anticipate you'll get the magazine the last week of June

I personally will not be doing to subscription again. I understand the point in what they're trying to do, but I simply want the magazine as quickly as possible and I have had to wait after it had hit stores the past two years. The $20 is not the problem, the time is.

I will be sending someone to the HOF in Waco.

Carthage lost way too much to be ranked #1. Now if I am doing rankings and I have a back to back champion on a 26 game win streak, then sure I will put them 1. But Carthage graduated 5 x 3 year starters who all signed to play college ball. And 6-7 x 2 years starters with 2 of them signing D1 scholarships. I know we reload, but damn. When you lose 7 scholarship players with 4 of them being D1 talent and 2 others likely to be D1 players after JUCO (Gates and Colbert), that’s hard to say you are not rebuilding.

Gonna be tough for Ville with LV on that side of the bracket now. Year in and year out it’s going to be tough for teams to handle LV size and athleticism. Plus Don Hyde is a hell of a coach. If LH can get past Carthage/Kilgore/Henderson then more power to them. Not an out of the question pick.

Gimme LV vs Carthage in the ship. Mark it down.

I still have a lot of questions about LV. I know they'll be athletic. I know Hyde will do just fine. But they lost some key pieces. And they're going to have to get through a silly-deep Region II. If I had to pick a state title game today, I'd probably pick Melissa vs. Liberty Hill. But, we haven't even played the 7-on-7 state tournament yet, so, we got a ways to go.

A few thoughts:

1) Argyle at No. 1 is a surprise.
2) Kennedale is a little too high for me.
3) Melissa is way too low for me.
4) Hirschi cracks the top 10 simply because DCTF needed a Region I team, and because D. Foster is going to be the best player in 4A. He'll win PoY, in my opinion, and I think he alone is enough to bring the Huskies a Region I title.

I didn't subscribe this year and figured I'd wait for it to hit the news stands, but it just showed up in my mailbox. I'm getting emails that my subscription has expired, however I haven't renewed it. Unless one of my kids renewed it as a fathers day present and never told me, I guess this helps make up for the multiple years I ended up with two copies.

Gosh, this use to be the bible for Texas HS football. Couldn't wait for it's release. Now, mistake filled team (even if 90% is accurate is too much) write ups, that with a little research and editing would be avoided. Curious, does anyone edit for accuracy of team content/info, not just misspellings? Is coaches contacted to confirm material, other than that generic team sheet each coach can submit like in Feb ?

When Dave had his hands in the finish product publication, you know things were nearly 100% accurate. DCTF too college oriented now days too.

The problem could be in many places. Everyone has to understand that it's an extensive amount of effort to get this information, and the coaches have to take time out of their day to make sure DCTF gets the correct information. I can assure you that I've met plenty of coaches that could care less what is in a magazine, regardless of what magazine it is. I also knew a few coaches that could hardly spell. It's a matter of everyone putting for the effort to make sure it's right. I'm sure they do fill out a generic sheet and send it in, and if DCTF had to call EACH school and clarify that everything was correct, I mean... How long would that take?

There's many reasons there could be inaccuracies;

1) coaches don't turn anything in
2) Coaches have bad handwriting
3) late movement after deadline
4) we are human and make mistakes

Whatever inaccuracies you found please send them my way.

I enjoyed it, too. It's a good product. Are there mistakes? Sure. When you put together something that massive, there's going to be some mistakes, especially when you consider all the factors that Steps listed. But, by-and-large, it's solid information, and it's all in one place. And it's a preseason tradition. And it means the season is just around the river bend.

I will never forget when I was a voracious reader as a kid how I would get this magazine the moment it came out in my town (Gilmer had a newsstand on the square that carried it) and devour it from cover to cover in one sitting. First, of course, I'd check out the summary of the Buckeyes.

At that age, all things were possible and I was still imagining myself as someday being on the cover (not as coach of the Aggies, though).

I liked reading about a variety of topics, but football was right at the top of the list of topics back then. It was just so exciting turning the pages. I am so glad there were not electronic devices or games when I grew up.

Yep, we would be electronic brainwashed zombies like today's kids if we would've had those devices then.

Here's an example of we are only as good as the info provided....had a HC call me today livid that his kid who was the leading returning WR in the state wasn't listed as all-state..I thought that was weird....went and looked and the kid was listed as RB....go figure...it was plausible he was changing positions since the school lost a record setting QB and we just figured he was changing positions so he could get the ball in his hands more....

That is the only place around here I could find it and it happens to be in north San Antonio. We have made that trip the last few years. The cool thing is we enjoy going to Barnes and Noble. We make a road trip out of it. Fire up that old Ford LTD Brougham and hit the road.

Thats good to hear..I imagine they'll start popping up on newsstands tomorrow for sure...once they get sent from the printer to the distributor its out of our hands on when they get put out...only thing we control is when we ship them to subscribers and even then the USPS isn't always perfect!

Haha I'm a sucker. I bit the bullet and subscribed, then went to Wal-Mart and saw they had it, so I bought it, then 2 days later my sub'd copy came in. I'm just trying to corner the market on them I guess!
