How many 3A are really testing themselves against good 4A size teams?......Who plays a 4A team this week?

Newton is going up against Jasper in J-town this week. O yeah not to mention the upset Ozen in Beaumont last week. No other 3A team in the state plays 2 harder games back to back than that.

Newton played 4a P.A. Lincoln and lost 13-14, they played Ozen and upset them 20-19 and they are playing Jasper this week and a big upset is annticipated. Newton also scrimmaged Thomas Jefferson and L.C.M earlier in the year. Newton has also played a ranked 3a Crockett team and ranked 2a Corrigan-Camden.

Bridge City has played 4A and 5A TAPPS teams and play undefeated Little Cypress-Mauriceville(4A) tonight. It was interest ing that they tied Vidor 21-21 and lost in overtime via a field goal. They were kicked out of all polls yet Vidor has 950 more enrollment and are picked to go far in the post season again this year in 4A! Sinton plays good 4A teams also. I see the best Div. I teams as (1) Everman,(2) Bridge City, (3) Sinton, (4) Forney etc: ....Based on competition....not tradition. I would like more info on Zapata, Atlanta, Barbers Hill; will they be Div. I or Div II?

There was a good article in the Ft Worth Star-Telegram last week about coachs and the way they like to schedule opponets. Some coachs prefer to schedule harder teams for their level or a level up. Some think it is better to try to schedule teams that they believe are on their teams level and some prefer to schedule teams they should beat as a confidence builder and as a chance to play second team players to give them experience.
I guess it comes down to whatever works for their programs.

reality check for all 3-A...
Who just beat a more than decent 4-A Waxahachie this week? Or was it a rivalry? Somebody inform us about the rivalries against Waxahachie?

I dunno about an Everman-Waxahachie rivalry...it kinda is but maybe it is just a rivalry for Everman since for so long when Everman was 4A Waxahachie kicked em around...I am not sure if Hachie considers us a rival since Ennis is Waxahachie's main rival...

Talk about a tough pre-district schedule. Lamesa has played Loubbock Cooper(Clobberred them), Frenship 4A (Lost to refering), Sweetwater (fumbled 6 times), Littlefield (Clobberred them), and Shallowater (Clobberred them). Sweetwater was by far the best team and they are very disciplined. I feel sorry for whoever has to play them in the playoffs or district. Th QB Carrillo is the best QB in the state and fastest. Lamesa lost the 6 times and only lost 24-6.

As far as teams in "West Texas" (Region 1) go, I would think that Breckenridge would have to be at the top as far as tough non-district schedules. First they played a very good Ballinger team. After that, they played #2 Wylie, #5 Sweetwater, and #9 Graham. I know that they arent going to make the playoffs, but for any team that would go to Div 2 in the playoffs, Ballinger, Sweetwater, and Graham are 3 of the toughest teams in the region.
