Gainsville did outplay Forney on both sides of the ball today. The Leopards first team outscored the Rabbits 2 to 1. Gainsvile looked very quick and had some very good athletes. Forney was without several starters for various reasons including all district running back Baylen Laury. The big concern for the Rabbits is their defense. They have lot of holes to fill if they expect to go deep into the playoffs again. But it is still early and Coach Rush is defensive specialist and hopefully he can put together another great one. Only time will tell.

yes i was informed by a number of people that forney's offensive display was quite upsetting... and even if they were without laury, were they not able to run it or throw it with the QB??

not to be making excuses (which this will be seen as), but #1 receiver Davis was out, #1 tight end/def. end Johnson was out, #2 tight end was out (Ghormley) along with district MVP RB/DB, Laury. The #1 offense got two chances. They drove down the field in their alloted plays but a penalty finished the first drive. Their second drive drove the length of the field and scored. The Forney coaches also asked that the referees use a quick whistle so the QB would not get hit, then they ran screen plays and nakeds(hunh?!)which begged for a quick whistle. All of those passes were complete except they were brought back (which had the fans scratching their heads). They even blew the whistle early on a QB draw.
Forney's defense did not have the same enthusiasm as g-ville's and it showed. One parent said the defense looked like they were waiting for the schoolbus.
Just my take.

Forney hasn't shown too much in scrimmages the last couple of years. I wouldn't be concerned yet.

I'm sorry to see that Forney is having defensive problems... I am sure they'll be worked out by the start of the season...

Also sad to see that that many of Forney's important players didn't get in the action cuz I'd really like to know how they play when they're ALL together...
