For those trapped in a location who need a source;

KXYL Brownwood radio has an online app you can download. They will come on internet live at 9am to broadcast the Realignment.

Probably a lot of local homer stuff involved but it would help in a pinch.

Really hoping the UIL keeps it simple by adding Snyder to the 2-4A party that is Sweetwater, Monahans, Pecos, Ft. Stockton and Midland Greenwood.

Looking forward to finding out Wylie, Brownwood, Andrews, Big Spring and Lakeview's fate as well.

In 4A region 1, you have 3 districts with 4 teams. some were 0-10 last year and they are already in the playoffs. The UIL never makes any since, just look at Aledo in region 2, they will drive by all of district 4, to play football in region 2.

If you are only looking at a map then its fine! Numbers, the numbers don't make sense. Look at the proportions of schools in each class. 4A has the lowest number of schools spread across two divisions. 5A D2 has districts with 8 and 9 teams per district, which suggests to me, that the cutoff number for 4A should have been higher. Just my opinion.

Disappointing non-District schedule for the Rockets with the exception of Gatesville. Other three teams are Taylor, Troy and Whitney....wow, no offense meant, but I was hoping the level of competition would be higher. I’m scratching my head over having our bye week the FIRST week of District play. I know it’s WAY early, but unless something is done to address the issue of a non-existent defense, I don’t see the Rockets making the playoffs and very likely having another losing season.....:vrycnfsd:

Not the only four team district in the state.

I probably go against the norm, but see no reason for divisions within classifications, especially since it's only done in one sport.

Travel is nuts for some teams and as mentioned the placement of teams from same isd's in different regions. What's that all about?

Travel- San Angelo Central will make what will probably be 4 hour district road trips (in a bus) to the Mid-Cities, in all sports not only is the distance great, throw in traffic once they get to the metroplex....I'm salty about this one a little. Central was part of the original "Little SWC" and I see no reason to shift them east...other than rumors i've heard about a panhandle school complaining.

also how about Brenham to Marble Falls for a district game Wow.

The UIL has a tough job and I'm sure these weren't the first scenarios they came up with but what were the closest to the best. I might belly ache about somethings they do, but I wouldn't trade our UIL for any other states HS sports/academic governing body.

Carthage and Marshall will play this year. Very excited about that game.

Carthage having a hard time finding games.
Tell Surratt to call stephenville. Wk 5 or 6.

Taylor has been pretty solid the last few seasons.

Even when they're 3-7, they're really freaking good.

According to Twitter, Port Isabel is looking for a Week 7 AND Week 8 game.

Yikes......

*****ninja edit*****

Same goes for Rio Hondo. They're needing Week 7 and Week 8 filled.

These 4-team districts need to play home-and-home.

Sorry, panther, it was a joke directed at the S2S guys ... well, one in particular.

Ah, got it.

They're jewels are 6A & 5A. They put the number of schools they want in these and fill in the blanks with what's left for 4A down.

I miss the days of Sweetwater scheduling the likes of Abilene High, Stephenville and the quality big schools in the Panhandle.
For the last decade our AD/HCs seem content with scheduling teams that might win between 0 - 3 games all year.

Oh and Sweetwater is 5-2 all-time against that jacket mystique. :D

These 4-team districts need to play home-and-home.

Well, I do like that idea as that would fill out 6 of the 10 regular season game slots. Problem is, I've seen some updated info with Rio Hondo and Progreso. Both of them have found 6 non-district opponents and just need 1 more.

I haven't heard anything regarding Raymondville yet, but Port Isabel, if my source is correct, only has 5 non-district games set, with both Weeks 7 and 8 still open. I don't know when their OPEN week is, though.

Coaches were having a LOT of trouble scheduling. Every time coach would approach somebody they would turn away.:D

Are you really calling Carthage and Van cream puffs?:doh:

I was being VERY tongue in cheek...Gilmer always does a solid ND schedule

Carthage vs MArshall......I am pumped about this one big time!

The fact of the matter is there are fewer mid-sized schools statewide and the UIL (per the request of member schools) tries to keep the ratios as close to 2:1 as possible....4A (old 3A) having the fewest number of member schools is nothing new

The top of 4A is 1149....just adding ten schools to 4A increases the top number to 1205....it would take adding about 25 schools to get 4A and 5A equal...that would send the top of 4A to right at 1300.....I dont think the smaller 4A schools want that at all

6A gets a set number. 1A - 4A follow the 2x formula and 5A gets the leftovers, which is traditionally the largest division.

6A is the darling, 1A-4A are the small towns with the Texas Tradition, but 5A is far from the UIL jewel. Most 3A and 4A schools have better attendance than 5A's.

Meanwhile I guess I'll have to wait until the booster club meeting on the 12th to find out Sweetwater's schedule
because it's no where to be found on social media.

I saw Sweetwater’s non-district line up of Cisco, WF Hirschi, Iowa Park, and Big Spring. Andrews was on the schedule but since Sweetwater had a 7 team district that fell through.

Progreso backed out so we are back to looking for a Week 3. Newton, Calallen and WOS (maybe?) are open and I think have been talked to, but I don't think we want to get any of our kids killed 3 weeks in!
