One of the good guys in the coaching profession. Mickey always gave respect to all, and earned his respect by coaching hard, and instilling respect and work ethic into his players. He will be missed in Lobo Land. Hopefully whomever takes over can sustain the Lobo tradition. Doing more with less

Looks like the Loboes have found their new coach.

(Local 2/FOX24) - Another West Texas football coaching job may soon be filled, as Mel Maxfield will be considered by the Monahans-Wickett-Pyote ISD school board Monday night.

Superintendent Kellye Riley confirms the district's selection committee submit Maxfield to the Board of Trustees to serve as the new Lobo AD/head football coach.

The board meeting will be Monday at 6:30 p.m. inside the Board Room of the Administration Building.
Maxfield has previously coached at Amarillo High, Burleson ISD and Forney ISD. He owns of a career record of 239 wins, 114 losses, and one tie.
