You can root for the squids, but they will be calamari when its all done.
Mine won't likely see the field this game if its close. He is behind the senior team captain DL, who never comes out of the game. He will get his shot next year.

Army will be wearing white uniforms to honor the 10th mountain division.

Congrats to your boy on getting through a very tough boot camp.

In years past, the Kennedale indoor practice facility was used by one of the military teams in preparation for the Armed Forces Bowl.
With Kennedale still in the playoffs, will that happen again this year?

No...they are recruited to play football just like every other school. Even have different admissions standards than the other "students".

Mine went through the recruiting process for Navy. Everything was "go" until they found out he was color blind. His only route was to become a lawyer. He wanted to be a SEAL or Aviator. Needless to say he didn't go. We had to go through whole process with the Congressman to get an appointment but it does not count against the Congressman's "total allotment" or whatever.

When I went through the process to go to the Air Force Academy to play football I had to take the SAT seven times! I was not too smart.. They offered Prep School. I said screw that, I took a Marine Corps scholarship to A&M. Payed a whopping $84 a semester. Again, did I say I was not too smart???

Panfan's been through it more recently.

Rice's admission standards are also different than for regular students. NCAA minimum score on SAT(?) is 17. Rice's is 19. A regular student? Something like 30 plus.

Army team is very good. They will take this one.

RC is correct, but the service academies do have higher standards than many other schools for athletes. Also, once in, there are a myriad of other factors that can get you excused from the team, number one of which is an honor code violation, followed close behind by grade issues. Mine went to the prep school, brought his ACT up a point or two (i think he needed a 25) and was good to go - many didn't and either quit or were denied entry to WP. Its tough for many of these guys and gals (athletes) - cause they are smart, but not the valedictorian and salutatorian types that make up the bulk of the other students they are competing with. Make no mistake, they are competing. Mine says after each semester, he is happy his class rank does not include a comma (e.g., 1300 in class of 2020).

Almost kick off time, if navy did their typical march on, it looked like the jr high rotc.

This game has the best pregame festivities of any game in the country.

Had to break out the defibrillator just prior to the kick, but it's all good now!

Perfect Cammo on Army's part. I guess they are not subject to the Boise State Rule ! Just kidding of course. Great game. About as close to a running clock that you will ever see in an NCAA football game. Side note - North Texas got love... Navy's offense copied what UNT did against Army, but UNT passes A LOT better!

ALSO>>> If you want/like to see the pregame pageantry like that, go see an Aggie game and go early for March-In. Just as cool!

GMG! and Gig'em!
