Salado is coming off an epic defensive battle against Bellville which they won 13-10 in Overtime. WO-S had their closest game of their 38 game streak yet pulling out a 28-26 win over a scrappy Madisonville. Salado runs the Slot-T and the WO-S defense has traditionally been kryptonite against that offense but WO-S is showing signs of increasing pressure having the weight of defending two state titles, continuing their winning streak and possibly looking ahead to a rematch with Wimberley or Cuero in the Semifinals.
This is Salado’s second appearance in the Quarterfinals. They lost in the 2A Semis to Tatum in 2007. For WO-S this makes the 7th consecutive appearance in the Quarterfinals with a 3-3 record in the past six losing to State Champs Navasota and Carthage and State Finalist Coldspring.
This will be the first time these programs have ever met making it three in a row with Mexia and Madisonville meeting WO-S for the first time the past two weeks.
