I loooooooooooooove playing Cuero. They are the absolute gold standard in football in the bottom half of the state, so beating them means so much. I'm still convinced that we didn't win state again in 2006 simply because beating them in round 3 for the first time was our Super Bowl.

Also, great community -- When our coaches organized the athletics day flood cleanup in 2015, there were more kids from Cuero than any other school.

It's always a good idea to give the nod to a team that has an outstanding qb at the helm in big games. Sounds like Weeks has built that pedigree this season, and given the Texans more room to be more effective in other areas of their offensive scheme. I guess their defense is pretty good too, Huh? Cuero matches up better vs. spread than that old T formation. Back in the day -- Nelms' patented multiple screens were so devastating. Just when you thought you had them stopped, the backside screen would be called. None ran them better than Coach Nelms.

It took an absolute miracle for us to beat Sweeny last week. They were about to tie it up, and one of our guys ran down the ball carrier inside the 5, and then their QB fumbled on the next play right before he went into the end zone.

If you're still playing Texas high school football the 8th of December you're damn good, like I've stated before, there's no real upsets at this level. I project a full stadium, leave your house early, drive safe and dress warm (don't forget your legs). Pray no players get injured.

I saw Wimberley first time last week. Always fun to compare to the other two State champion teams ( and I saw both every week). This team is damn good. Really damn good. The skill players are good but not any better than the other two state teams. All and all equal. But O line really impressed me. Best I've seen. And of course the always Wimberley attitude to win. I don't know Cuero other than a few stars but I say-

TD on last play to Gavin Martinez called back on O pass interference! He overdid it on the push off to get separation needed for the catch. A little less push off and it's a TD. Refs are letting the play for the most part!
Team with the least mistakes in 2nd half will win! This could be decided on the last possession!

Congrats to the Wimberley Texans on a great great win. Cuero obviously ran into some injuries to key players.....but had a wonderful season. He was killing us until then. And then our rush started to get to him. But what an amazing performance from the kid.

Great Job Wimberley and way to show them D 13 can play ball. Very similar to last year when Navarro sealed the game on a pick 6. Just like last week Cuero started to fold in the second half and the Texans got off to a Great start to keep it close and take the lead and win in the end!

Wimberley and Navarro I feel like have tons of respect for each other except for the one week when we are rivals. Great season Cuero and keep D 13 rolling Texans!!!

I don't think anyone this year has taken the opening kickoff and surgically driven it down their throats for a score and a defense that stops their drive. Set the tone for the rest of the game. "we have to?" We've got a bunch of ballers man....that's the best kinda players!
