I don't understand this one......why should Argyle even give Snyder a coin flip? I guess they figured it was the same as a neutral site if we lost......which we did. If we win the flip, the game is in Argyle? It's a longer drive to Snyder than a neutral site would have been.

Ya that kind of sucks. I would recommend skipping I20 at least on the trip to Snyder. That night it may not be too bad. The construction is a nightmare.

Argyle fans:
Actually it’s not too bad now. I drive I-20 from Abilene to Big Spring every week and it truly was a nightmare for about 3 months. Shouldn’t have any problems—as always though, be very alert driving in a construction zone on the Interstate. Safe travels to the Argyle fans.
One last piece of advice—eat in Abilene or Sweetwater, there is nothing good in Snyder.

Sweeny vs Orange Grove
At Port Lavaca
Friday 7:30

It will be good to play in Port Lavaca. Haven't been there for a game in nearly 20 years when we were in the OLD 4A and I was playing. Do they still mix sand with the grass on the field or is it turf now?

They have turf now and just added 1500 seats to the home side.

Just pick up a couple of burritos at the Allsups in Hermleigh...with a running clock in the second half you will be back on the road pretty fast.

We ate at a place there that had a great chicken fried steak. It was on the south side of i20 kind of between some hotels. There was a sign but it wasn't lit up. Was really good. Pretty sure that was Sweetwater.

Yeah, that's Skeet's. That place, Mrs. Allen's and Buck's draw all the football crowds.

But, as far as places to eat, the Interstate has really blown up with many fast food chains
from Abilene to Midland Odessa and Sweetwater has probably 10 restaurants in that area thanks to Wal-mart.
Essentially, If travelers can't find a good place to grab a quick bite before a game then they aren't trying.

There are places to eat, True, but probably one or two that I would classify in the GOOD category...and the only fast food that I have in the GOOD category is probably Whataburger.

Well, they just built and brand new Whatburger on I-120 and had their grand opening about a month ago or so.
It's has an unusual set up though compared to the Whatburgers I'ver been too. Here's a brief story on it's setup.

Whataburger will celebrate the grand opening of its new location on Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at its new location at 301 N.E. Georgia Avenue in Sweetwater. The new, modernized restaurant is able to serve the entire city, featuring a state-of-the-art kitchen, double drive thru lanes, an expanded, updated dining room and a parking lot with plenty of space for larger vehicles. To provide a fun celebration for the whole family, customers and their children can enjoy free face painting, a photo booth, Whataburger giveaways and more.

I like it but it's not a place to go if your short on time. It's a franchise and the owner who also owns the Schlotsky's has a deal with a local guy
that makes terry's homemade ice cream and that's what is served there.

I would think it's gonna be a big night in Snyder......they finally get to play a home game against Argyle. I mean.....what else is there to do in Snyder this time of the year on a Friday night, Huh? Besides.....they have a chance for the big upset......regardless of how remote that may seem. I won't be travelling that far.....that's for sure. I'll just turn on the ol' computer and TV and have my Friday night lights right in my bedroom, Lol. Coin flip instead of halfway......maybe they figured it was better for only one team to travel since the distance even for the halfway point was gonna be quite a drive.

Here is what I heard and mind you I have not corroborated this information. Apparently Snyder is having a difficult time financially (as are other schools because of our brilliant Lt. Gov.) and couldn't afford the cost of the stadium rental. So the two schools agreed to have the game in Snyder. That is really sad. No reflection on Snyder; just that our schools are in such tough shape.

Texans have got to get that idiot out of office. Here in Missouri, we've just taken up the fight to get our newly-elected governor Eric Greitens out. He was a very promising candidate during his campaign, and I loved a lot of his ideas and even voted for him. Now, he's following suit with Dan Patrick and trying to eviscerate public education. He will not get many votes the next time around.
