Lots of folks will likely say the Hornets have played weak teams, but Madisonville and Hearne have potential this season with some offensive speed yet Caldwell contained them with back to back shutouts and Smithville could be a third straight unless the subs are put in after intermission.
While the offense still needs to finish the job on scoring threats with more consistent passing (what's with the back-up soph QB being put in half the night despite tripping himself and getting sacked a few times), the defense may have to carry the team.
Looks like the FG kicker should being get paid some overtime.
Friday vs. Smithville may be the Hornets' best chance to score more than three TD's this season. Flea flickers anyone?
Madisonville scored 14 vs. a strong Palestine team sporting the top QB in the nation and lost by 17 after losing to Caldwell, 15-0. Hearne scored 29 on a solid Thorndale team before shelling Grandview (admittedly a weaker team) by a 40-9 count last week.
Great job, Caldwell Swarm defense....
