I read that Trae Hall (QB) is the brother of Barnes (can't remember his first name, honestly) who quarterbacked Henderson in 2010 and 2011, winning it all in 2010. He was a good one, for sure. He torched Celina in the 2011 quarterfinals. Hall looks to be pretty good, too. He's got a strong arm and an ability to extend plays with his feet.

The problem that I see, though, is No. 8 and No. 9 for Henderson are gone. No more Van Zandt and no more Ebner. Those two were electric. Henderson still has plenty of speed and athleticism. But I don't know if they've got enough firepower to go toe-to-toe with Carthage for four quarters.

This should be a good one.

No dog in the fight.

Henderson gives Carthage trouble in this one. Hall at qb is athletic enough to change up some things defensively for Carthage. We'll see how Carthage handles him. Should be one of those games that's very exciting and very close. It's a home game for Henderson......that should be somewhat of an advantage for the Lions in a very big game like this one. I think this game is probably bigger for Henderson than it is for Carthage in the grand scheme of the season.......maybe not for the players on both sides.......but for the duration of the season as the team moves forward. No pick here......I'll call it a toss-up with some turnovers mixed in.

If Carthage cleans up the turnovers I think they will win by 3 TDs. If turnovers continue, I look for Henderson to keep it close, and maybe pull the upset if things fall just right for them.

The Dawgs defense dominated this ball game. They forced Henderson to go to the pass. Dawgs allowed 70 yards rushing and 153 through the air.
The Dawgs D scored another touch down and I believe that gives them 7 defensive TD'S through 5 ball games.
Henderson did a good job holding the Dawgs to 112 yards rushing and 238 passing for a total of 350 yards.
Carthage put the number two's in to start the fourth.
Carthage will now face Kilgore next week.
Dawgs 42 Henderson 17

Looks like Carthage has ALL the ingredients.......is Kilgore's defense better or worse than the other competition so far? Which team on your schedule has the best defense???

Henderson had the best defense so far, but Kilgore maybe the best team we will face until the playoffs start. Chapel Hill gave Kilgore a scare last night and Palestine played Henderson a good game.
In this district you better bring your A game every Friday night or you will get beat.
The Dawgs defense has been dominating, no team has been able to run on the Dawgs. The D line has had every QB running for his life and in my opinion the best three linebackers in all of 4A have hammered running backs. The defense has scored 6 or 7 touch downs in five games.
The offense is as well balanced as we have ever had, they run when you think pass and they pass when you think run. With just his 5th varsity start, Junior QB Capps is starting to find his groove. He threw two bombs to Dee Bowens that went 45 yards in the air and hit him in perfect stride. One for 74 yards and the other for 70 yards. He threw six TD passes to four different receivers. Henderson is a dang good football team and will be a hard out for anybody in the playoffs.
If this Dawg team does what the Surratt Dawgs have done for the last 11 years (that is get better every game in the playoffs) they will be something to watch.
Up next is Kilgore and they have a strong running attack, the Dawgs D will get tested again.
Hope this information gave you what you were asking for.
Lets Go Dawgs!!!!!
God Bless coaches,players, and fans.

Kilgore's head coach is a defensive specialist, as I recall. It is always wise to assume that Coach Wood has put together a very good defense.

The problem is the one-dimensional offense. Kilgore cannot get more than a couple of scores behind or they're (usually) finished.
