Brief background to article: Seguin High School hosted Rockport Fulton's "home" game against Leander Glenn on Friday night. The Seguin community rallied to show Rockport-Fulton folks people care and want to help. The Seguin High School band started the outreach to R-F by offering to play the R-F fight song and alma mater during the game and the outreach mushroomed from there. Seguin High had played its game Thursday night.

The Seguin head Coach is Travis Bush who played QB at Gregory Portland and the Rockport HC is Jay Siebert who is from GP and was the offensive coordinator at GP under George Harris. They are good friends just helping each other out. Just about all of the Rockport students are attending GP schools until their school has been rebuilt. GP actually had a pep rally for the Rockport Pirates at GP high school. GP has really stepped up to assist the displaced students by accepting 1700 new students from pre K to seniors. Not a easy task but one GP had to do.

Actually heard the game was scheduled there long ago but Seguin was able to help provide a meal for them and use their band. Navarro will also be helping Refugio when they play here on the 29th with a meal and monetary aid.

I drove thru Refugio on the Sunday after Harvey made landfall. Man that town took a shellacking from the hurricane maybe not to the extent of Rockport but still tons of damage. The one thing that stood out the most was the rubberized roof on top of Refugio high school was ripped off and hanging on the side of the building.you can imagine just how much rain flooded that building and it's going to take months to rebuild it.

Refugio students are being bussed to Goliad. The game 2 weeks ago in Goliad was very interesting.....35-28......and I hear from my brother it was a very good game.
