Leopards Advance in Playoffs
The Gainesville Leopards defeated the Paris North Lamar Panthers 37-7 Friday in a Class 3A Division I bi-district playoff at Wylie's Pirate Stadium.
Terrius Purvey rushed for 202 yards and three touchdowns and kicker Steven Arenas added three field goals to lead the Leopards to the victory.
Gainesville (11-0) also got a 65-yard touchdown pass from Chris Brown to Darcel McBath.
Gainesville jumped out to a 14-0 first quarter lead, but North Lamar scored on the third play of the second quarter to cut the lead in half. Arenas booted his first field goal with 5 seconds remaining before halftime to put the Leopards up 17-7. They then scored 20 unanswered points in the second half.
