Baseball Region I Final: Wylie vs Godley...

Repeat of an epic one gamer from last year when Wylie came back at the end to win (or Godley collapsed--depends on your viewpoint). This year it's a 3 game series and is being played at Wichita Falls Wednesday and Thursday. Godley was very talented but young last year and is likely much better than last year and will have revenge on their minds... Wylie went on to win State and is back this year with IMHO a better team than last year. Don't have the dominant pitcher from last year (that went on to Rice) but have 2 very good starting pitchers and several solid relievers. I know every team still in it is perfectly capable of winning it all but think the winner of this one has to be the favorite now that Argyle has been knocked out.

4-2 Wylie after 1. Wylie batting. Will play double header today because of high chance of rain tomorrow. Both teams started their #2 starter.

5-3 after 3. Wylie went down in order Godley got 1 run on 3 hits, 2 left on. Top of the order for Wylie in the 4th

6-3 after 5. Wylie closed the inning with a double play. 9,1,2 batting for Wylie in the 6th. I think Godley will have 8,9,1.

7-3 after 6. Godley starter reached his pitch limit in the previous inning. Reliever got big out with 2 runners on after Wylie had scored 1. Godley went down in order.

Game 2 has started, Wylie jumped out to a 1-0 lead after 1. Going to the bottom of the third with Wylie batting, the game is 1-0 Wylie. The Wylie Ace has struggled with command, but has yet to give up a run, two runners were thrown out (2nd and at home in the top of the third.

The Godley Ace is pitching very well.

Wylie scored 2 more in the third. The Godley ace appeared to get very frustrated after 4 consecutive hits by Wylie. Top of the 4th first batter was walked then retired on a nice double play and the third batter bounced back to the pitcher. Wylie pitcher seems to be finding his groove. Going to the bottom of the 4th with Wylie up 3-0.

Wylie loaded the bases with 1 out, but the hitter squared up right to the SS for a nice double play for Godley. Top of the 5th coming up.

Godley score a run in the top of the 5th. The pitcher stuck out the last batter on 3-2 count with runners on 2nd and 3rd. Going to the bottom of the 5th, Wylie up 3-1. 3-5 hitter coming up

Wylie strung 3 hits to add two more runs. After 5 complete Wylie up 5-1. The Godley ace is close to 100 pitches I think. Wylie pitcher around 80.
