Our playoff system is flawed

I don't see how you can make the playoffs and be 2-3 in district. It doesent seem right. all the districts should have the same amount of teams or they should take a diff amount from the dist. with more teams.

We only play 5 district games, but it still takes 3 wins to make it from our district.

If you have a six team district you can make the playoffs at 2-3.

Seems like the districts should be a little more even. Oh well, I guess that's why I didn't get that job at the UIL. (JK)

Callisburg (a local 2A school) made the playoffs last year with a 2-8 record

The pictures are ok with me. I admit I am not a big Aggie fan but the pictures represent tradition that I respect and am always in awe of. The Aggies have a spirit which all Aggies are justifiably proud.

Let me see if I can explain this in an easy way.

If you have six teams in your district, which most do, you play the other five teams one game each.

That is a total of 30 district games played with 15 wins and 15 losses.

If team A wins all 5 and team B goes 4-1 that leaves six wins to divide up amongst the remaining four teams.

It is now possible for three of the remaining four teams to go 2-3 and one team to go 0-5, it is also possible for two teams to go 2-3 and two teams to go 1-5, which would still leave the tie-breaker system in place for the teams that did go 2-3.

In a tough district this is a very possible scenario, with a 2-3 team being very competetive in the playoffs.
