Ya'll had a few non-homegrowners. Some as I recall had a dad who coached too. Might not of been this caliber like Vern. Fingers crossed. Usually, they head south of us for some reason. Nice having them interested in YT to plant roots. Now, I know how they feel/felt down there. Even El Campo plucked a few from Palacios area, out their way.

If it does go down, its obvious it would be for "athletic" purposes. You go out and recruit a Coach that happens to have custody of a D1 caliber player?? Boling played a playoff game in Yoakum, maybe that's when the AD decided he "wanted" a certain Coach in town. And for what reason really? The kid has offers, he can play at any of those school the following season, the move doesn't seem logical at all.

Let go, departed on their own--I meant they are gone. Don't know the details and sorry if I was implying they fired him. Just, maybe that coach liked him was my intentions. And, illegal not sure about that. Curious, why would it be that?

I, for one, hope it doesn't come to that. I hope for the kid's sake he finishes with his teammates that he's been with his entire life. I have no horse in the race but I know plenty of the people involved at Boling and I can tell you this, they love that kid and he loves them. Its a very tight knit community and he's a big part of it.

Yes, The POPE arrived from San Benito. Enrolled like two weeks back. They are originally from here. Not sure what dad does, was a preacher when they lived here before. Yes, job market and oil economy is doing pretty good again. Got a son/grandkid with skills, come to YT 22.:2thumbsup

This is where you're just....well.....wrong.

You don't go before the UIL and see if its "ok" for it to happen. The UIL doesn't get involved until AFTER its happened. At that point, if denied, the kid is the one that suffers.

Steele could of had the pick of the litter but they chose to hire their HC from within. My bud from Shertz Cibilo told me two years ago about a problem at that school. They will be a shadow of what they were real soon.
If a parent relocates to a new town because a better job how can the UIL fault them? If Yoakum hired him as a coach again how can they fault him? Robinson is a good wise coach who would never imperiled his team or the community. Build it and they will come!

Yoakum looks stronger than I"ve seen in years and barring injuries could go deep into the playoffs again year. Good to be a Bulldog!

Yep the big uglies in the trenches have always been the foundation of good teams and the bulldogs got some serious beefy boys on those lines. How many are going both ways? That will be a factor later in the season. Down here at GP we don't have that problem with 75-80 suiting up on varsity.

Bryce told me the team has been fanatical in working out this summer piling on muscle and getting more mobile, nice to have the HC"s son as team leader. These dogs have their eye on the one prize that has aluded Yoakum got too long, time to bring it home. Do you call baseball too? GP has gone Nuts building turf lil league baseball & softball fields, hell we had a pop warner youth football turf field built too. Not bragging but we will has the best lil league fields south of San Antonio.
Next summer all new high school baseball and softball turf fields are going to be built.
There's gona be a lot of tournaments real soon in GP. Love it, calallen is jealous as hell!

Heard ESPN was interested in the game, after HV turned down to be on ESPN in our district opener, wk 5. Not sure the status and if ESPN could re-schedule their week 2 programming to air our 108th (Dog's/Gob's) meeting live on a Thursday night. Still can't believe HV declined.
