I've been busy supporting my Stephenville Honeybees.

I've been refraining most of this season to post much about this year's team until we knew what calibar of team we had. I knew they would be young with 9 freshman coming in. Last year's team made it to the regional semi's only to get beat by the defending state champs Kennedale. Kennedale has had Stephenville's number the past two seasons. Stephenville lost 16 seniors after last season and everyone knew there would be big shoes to fill. Well, this year's team filled those shoes and much more. You see, I coached the freshman girls from the time some of them were 4 years old. Most since they were 8. Midway through district play, 3 more freshman were moved up from JV making a total of 12 freshman on varsity. They proved today that they are as talented as I thought. The Bees knocked off the back to back defending state champions Kennedale for the regional finals in a shootout! Bees won 3-1! After a scoreless full game plus two ten minute overtime periods, it can down to shootout. The Bees are state bound for the state tournament for the first time in school history. The most beautiful thing about it is that 9 starters are freshman! So proud of these girls for showing what they are made of.

That is awesome Hollywood. Congrats!. This was a big deal for the Lady Texans as well. I don't believe they have ever gone this far in the post season. This was the sort of thing our AD has been pushing, to make all sports teams more competitive. Heck, Wimberley just won district track, both girls and boys. They still have some work to do for the volleyball team. They seem to have lost their mojo. lol

Only time I have ever seen an athlete Care Flighted off a field. Girls soccer game..... twice.

Should be banned for being dangerous to the players and the sanity of the three people sitting in the stands.

State tournament (final four) is in Georgetown this Wednesday and Thursday for 4A. We play Athens Wednesday at 11AM for the semi's. Winner plays the winner of the Bourne vs Jasper semi that's scheduled for 1:30 Wednesday. My daughter is one of the 12 freshman. :2thumbsup
