........or photographer in general.

Since joining the paper in Cameron, I have gained interest in photography. I started out using the camera at the office with really no knowledge. I have since started watching informational videos online and last year purchased my first entry level camera (Nikon D3300) with two kit lenses.

I have gone through the auto and running man mode before finally moving over to manual for shooting. That followed with the transition from jpg to raw and Lightroom.

I am now in the process of upgrading my gear. I have just ordered a D500 that will be here at the beginning of next week. I was going to order a lens first, but we do have a 80-200 f2.8 at the office. It's older but is still a quality piece of glass. The next purchase will probably be another shorter range zoom lens or a newer 70-200.

Right now I am just an enthusiast that would not mind transitioning over more of the professional realm of things with portraits and weddings.

Just wondering if anyone on here has any experience and any suggestions.

Shot sports pictures at the Wharton Journal Spectator from 1985-2009 and used various cameras starting with film and eventually digita with a Cannon D40 which I now have with two zoom lenses includking a 80-200. 2.8 opening. I'm out of the business now but still shoot pics at music concert etc. I won several awards for sports photography during my tenure at the paper. Those were the goold old days. Wish I could have kept some of my best shots
