Is it just me on why we're playing starters in a meaningless game?

I had no idea Dez was a southpaw.

If you held them out this week AND next coupled with the bye that would be 3 weeks. Way too long imo.

Agreed. Players have to stay sharp and focused. The only true way to do that is to play like you normally would, getting reps in a game situation. I could understand rotating players in and out, but I would let my starters play at least half the game, maybe more depending on the amount of drop off in effectiveness.

Yes. And yes.

Let them play at least a half and stay sharp.

Also, they can only dress like 42 or something like that. You just simply can't sit guys in the NFL. Not enough roster spots.

I am really not trying to stir up anything on this, so don't take it there.

Are they not getting Romo any reps because they don't want to get him hurt in case they need him? Which is what I have kinda heard come from some interviews. Or, do you guys think he has lost another step from this surgery and they don't want to show that in live full speed action?

I tend to believe the latter of these scenarios more, cause if he was truly capable of being as good as before, they would want to get him some full speed reps just in case Dak does go down. I don't want to hear any qb controversy scenarios, because that is out the window at this point, and they would have control over that with play calls anyway. He could go in and hand off more than anything and run enough pass plays to check his timing. He wouldn't have to go in and try to break passing records. The cowboys don't have to worry about a qb controversy, so I think they are keeping his trade stock higher by not showing him.

I think they don't want to do anything that might damage any trade value, whether that be rust, diminished skills or injury.

I agree, they are rolling the dice on Dak not going down, and if he does, hoping Romo can step in better than most back ups could, which he probably can.

He can chunk the ball as far as anyone on the team...maybe further than Aikman could throw.
