Wylie will have to slow this game down some if they want to win. They cannot afford to give up the ball and get into a shoot out or wide open type of game with Carthage.

Did anybody have any doubt? I think the surprising thing is that both offenses are having success. Carthage got to get the drops under control. Great 1st half of football. I said it last week, and I will say it again. I would be a little nervous if I was a Wylie fan. Carthage has been here all season. What a game so far. Look forward to the 2nd half.

That's pretty unfair. The kid has thrown some great passes and has had some unfortunate bounces. Then you get him with his back up against the wall trying to make plays. That never turns out pretty for the stat sheet

Razorback88
12-16-2016, 07:52 PM
Agreed, nothing personal against the QB, had a good 1st half.... it doesn't help the Carthage DB's look like Division I players and Wylies receivers are all 5'9

Congrats Carthage on another state title. Congrats Wylie on getting to the show.

Carthage dominated the second half. The fumble by Wylie early in the second half really felt like a momentum shift. Some unfortunate tipped passes for Wylie hurt them. Teams usually make mistakes being forced to get out of their game plan. Carthage definitely gets stronger as the game progresses. They have an outstanding coaching staff.

That second TD was a heave and his wr made a spectacular play. Like I said force them into passing, not let them do it according to when they want to. This game went just about how I figured it would. Congrats to Carthage

You can't bet against a man that acts like he has nothing to lose. 0-8 at one point on 3rd downs, and 4-4 on 4th. We were going for it on our end of the field like it was a pre-district game. Surratt is going to get you beat early, but he is the best coach in the state late. Got some of the biggest cojones I have ever seen. AW, CS, Stafford, and Hendo would have all beaten Carthage if their coaches were willing to take half the risk as Surratt.

There is no secret to coach S.
First he knows who can play and where.
Second he gets the kids to believe in what he wants them to do.
Third there is no one better at finding a teams weakness and formatting a plan.
Fourth he has no fear, ice water flows in tight situations.
Fifth he truly believe he can win every game when the playoffs start.
Sixth all non district games only have one meaning and that is to find his teams weakness.
Seventh he does not care what the record is before the playoffs as long as his team gets in.
Eight can get his players better after each game in the playoffs.
(Most teams are as good as they are going to get by the 10th game, not a coach Sarratt team.
Proof is the win loss record in the first ten games.
He is a master planner and his kids believe in him 100 percent.
I truly believe they will be better next year on both sides of the ball.
God Bless all of you and your families.

Really? Such a riverboat gambler to stand on the sideline and watch two field goals go wide left, either one being made and Carthage would be sitting at home this weekend.

What does that have to do with him being a gambler. Again, was Carthage at home? Or did they win a ship this weekend? Carthage is just lucky. And Surratt has got the rabbits foot.
