Our old coach Bobby Manning played for the Bulldogs in 1952, then he was the HC in 1977 when Yoakum lost to Bellville. Yoakum got robbed in that game because the refs called back 3 of Yoakums touchdowns. Ive checking out Mineola and Yoakum stacks up well against them. They are a run first pass when they have to offense. I really like Yoakums chances in this game simply because many teams because of Yoakums record have overlooked them, fatal mistake to many who did. Yoakum by 7

Yoakum has the defense to win this game and Coach Robinson has to come up with a offensive gameplan to weardown the Mineola defense. For Yoakum to win tbis game Yoakum has to go smashmouth offense and keep the Mineola offense on tbe bencb.

From what I saw, Yoakum has enough offense to win it. They certainly can limit Mineola's attack with their defense. I like Yoakum's chances.....they have a very capable QB and good height at the receiver position. Some good size backs that run hard. And some very deceptive team speed. I think Yoakum will fight for the win right from the start and never get way behind. Then when it counts, they will make the plays. Go Bulldogs.

YT Ive been watching Ethan since he was a freshman at Sinton. Since Sinton is 15 miles west of Portland they are always in the sports news here locally. He has always been a great athlete at Sinton whether its football or track. Not sure but does he have any other brothers or sisters?

I think Yoakum needs to back off on defense and play more of a containment style against this Yellowjackets team. They are getting tied up on the line and not able to move off the blocks.

Halftime. Not a bad first half for Yoakum with the big game jitters in Jerryworld for the first time. And for the first time at State in forever. Maybe the 2nd half will bring a different look.

I called it. I just thought this Mineola team was destined, and the seniors, and even some of the juniors on this team had championship game experience.

I think on that fumble recovery the ref said the player that actually recovered the ball didn't establish himself inbounds before touching the ball. None of the angles on TV replay showed the actual player that recovered. If that's the case, it's the right call. Big break for Mineola, and a bad break for Yoakum.

Any way you look at it, though, Mineola was the better team and deserved the win.

I see Yoakum returning if they utilize the passing game a little more. Young team. I also see Cuero there next year as well.

Passing game went away when our QB broke arm midway through season. I agree, we will chunk it more with him returning and losing our power running game backs. I will miss O'Henry. Goliad will be heard from in 2017 IMO.
