Former Texas head coach Charlie Strong may already be in line for a new job.
Tommy Tuberville resigned as the head coach at Cincinnati on Sunday and Strong, who was fired at Texas on Nov. 26, is one of the potential candidates for the coaching position, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer's Tom Groeschen.
If Strong was to take over at Cincinnati, he would be inheriting a program in much worse shape than that when he arrived at Texas. The Bearcats are coming off a 4-8 season that saw a 1-7 conference record and five straight losses to end the season. Tuberville amassed a 29-22 record in his four seasons at Cincinnati.
Strong landing another coaching position would take Texas off the hook for quite a bit of money over the next few years. If he was to be hired somewhere else, the $10.7 million Strong is due would be reduced by a significant amount.
Strong was fired after just three seasons in Austin, where he tallied a 16-21 record.
