Class 4A Division 2 Region 1 Final: Sweetwater vs. Seminole

Sweetwater vs Seminole, 7pm Friday December 2nd, Grande Communications Stadium, Midland.

District 2 proved it was the best in Region 1 with 3 of 4 playoff teams making to the Region Semis. In addition to being from the same district a few lines to add to the matchup:


Sweetwater defeated Seminole 39-22 in district play.

Sweetwater placed 2nd and Seminole 4th in district play.

Seminole Coach Kent Jackson coached several seasons at Sweetwater, including playoff runs.

Sweetwater Coach Shane Mobley was as assistant under Jackson at Sweetwater.

Both coaches are still close friends and Mobley gives much of his current success to Jackson.

Coach Jackson and family were well liked in the community and still are.

This being said....all of that love affair was pretty well taken care of when we played earlier this year. All that how ya been and how's your family was all good for a district game...but now it's the regional finals.

Beating a team twice in a season they say is tough and both teams come in playing very good football will make this one a fun game to help call.

Pretty much every thing I post is sarcastic. To the extreme. Maybe I need to tone down my sarcasm. I sincerely apologize if you take my sarcasm as confrontational. I must say, however, that the last part of the preceding post is somewhat to quite confrontational. No offense taken though. I'm a very easy going guy. (And, I'm sorry to take up so much space and bore the Seminole and Sweetwater fans with all this touchy-feely nonsense.)

I watched Sweetwater play last week. I saw a very good team with the best secondary I have seen all year and I have seen some good ball this year. Hate to look ahead but I can see a great SW/WOS match up in Jerry world for sure. Opinions vary and I sure have been wrong in the past BUT I think these two teams are the best in D2 this year. Seminole will play them tough and have been a huge surprise this play off season. Sweetwater is GUUD! :thinking:

Just wanted to let you know Graham was a great host last week. Y'all are doing a great job on remodeling the stadium and everyone that was working the game was very helpful and friendly.

I have worked many playoff games in Sweetwater in the past and we have always strived to treat visitors that way and they want to come back again.

As a sports reporter I have also been in stadiums where you thought..who and the heck are these people and what are they so mad to be here? So..thanks again for being great hosts!

Are you kidding. Man I love the Mustang Bowl. I remember Graham played Shallowater in 14 at the Bowl. Was a layer of ice on everything. We had to slide into the restrooms because of the ice. Still the folks in Sweetwater were awesome. I had a great time. So I am glad we could give a little back.
