The Sanger Indians are much better than their record shows with two losses this season, folks. They lost to a very good Denton High Broncos(7-1) 5A team and the high-flying new 4A Midlothian Heritage Jaguars(6-1) who just defeated a very stout Alvarado Indians team. Make no mistake about it......this year's Sanger Indians is better than last year's and perhaps their best team in many years. QB CJ Jackson is now a junior, RB/receiver/returner/Free Safety Peyton Howard, senior, is a real threat anytime he has the ball. And he's one of their leading tacklers on defense. They have an O-Line bigger than Argyle's and their D-line is also much bigger.......they have some beef. But this beef is not slow and overgrown.....it's big and strong. Argyle better be ready for a very physical game in the trenches, but also a speedy team with athletes that can make the plays. This Sanger team has lots of talent on both sides of the ball. I will not be surprised to see a very high-scoring game for the district championship in this one. I think Argyle will have to outscore Sanger in a shootout....I just don't see the Eagles shutting down this Sanger offensive attack. Regardless, both teams will be a force in the playoffs and both teams should only improve as the season goes forward. Decatur had a very good offense, but Sanger has both a good offense AND a good defense, AND a good kicking game. They also have depth, speed, and talent at the skill positions. The Argyle Eagles better get ready to........RUUUUUMMMMMBLLLLLLEEEEE!!!!

In other words......IMHO the Sanger Indians are a very good football team that should not be overlooked. I think they are underrated because of their 2 losses, but this team is very dangerous. They will play hard every play and never quit. This is a team that has the ability to win late.

Besides......they want to beat Argyle more than anything else. OOPS.......I hope the Eagles players are reading this. Sanger runs a balanced attack like Argyle does......averaging 195 yds rushing and 192 yds passing. Just to compare......Argyle's numbers are 196 yds rushing and 222 yds passing per game so far.

BTW>>> Argyle's kicking game has finally come to fruition. Dylan Sadler hit a 50 yd field goal against Decatur a couple of games ago and is kicking touchbacks on kickoffs.

Well heck, fellas.......y'all don't have much respect for those Sanger Indians do ya??? I think you will see a very good team on Friday night in Eagles Stadium playing against our Eagles. Don't be surprised by a much closer score......just sayin'.

Regal you have yelled wolf to many times but if Argyle beats them less than 30+ it is not because Sanger was that good but that Argyle was resting up for the playoffs.

Ledford and the Boyz don't need no rest......they've only played 6 games so far. They need more work, not less......especially Ledford. :taunt::evilgrin::1popcorn:

Decatur lost to Midlothian Heritage 52-50, on a last second field goal. Heritage beat Sanger 45-19. Decatur beat Bridgeport by 63-7 Sanger beat Bridgeport 38-3. Argyle beat Decatur 64-35. Now, comparing common opponents doesn't always indicate how future games turn out but knowing this, I'll go with Argyle by a comfortable margin. Sanger will bring all they got, they def want this win. Good luck to both.

Also, Sanger allowed 41 points to WF Hirschi. Decatur's D only allowed 21 to Hirschi.

One week at a time and every game stands on its own. Each team has a different set of players against another set, and each week brings another set of tests. Overconfidence is the downfall of all undefeateds......until they are defeated. A healthy dose of respect goes a long way on gameday. Anybody wanna add another one???

Sanger has not been the same team since the 2nd half of the Bridgeport game. Struggled against Heritage, got saved by a lightning storm vs Hirschi, and were unfathomably trailing to a winless Burkburnett team at halftime. This team SHOULD be much better than last year's Indians team but for some reason, the last 14 quarters have been extremely sloppy. Penalties, turnovers, poor defensive decisions...all factors that typically add up to an Argyle blowout. As much as I would love to see a competitive game, I just don't think this is Sanger's year...again.

I can't find one aspect of this matchup that favors Sanger. Long night for the Indians. Argyle is getting better each week. They've found ways to win defensive battles, offensive shootouts and everything in between. They roll again this week, BIG. Eagles have turned into my pick to win it all in Div. I come December.

Who you kiddin', regal? I know you want to give your opponent their due respect just in case the game is closer than expected, but if Argyle plays like they're capable, it won't matter what Sanger does. It won't be nearly enough.

Now, if the Eagles revert back to making a lot of mistakes, this game could be a "little" closer than expected, but I highly doubt that'll happen in Week 9. I'll admit I haven't been keeping up with Argyle this year, except for the scores. What are the things that have kept Argyle from being even better, i.e. turnovers, penalties, porous defense at times, poor execution on offense at times, special teams, etc.?

Already looking ahead (I know, I know... never look ahead and be careful what you wish for, etc, etc) to a likely 3rd round playoff matchup between Wylie and Argyle. Will be the first tough game for both since early in the season and should be a great one.

Should be Wichita Falls Hirschi in Round 1, looks like Clint (2nd in District 2) /Pampa (3rd in District 1) winner in Round 2. WF Hirschi may be the best of those 3 teams. Hirschi is very athletic but small. I wouldn't be surprised if their RB Roman Turner is the fastest kid in District 4. AW shouldn't be seriously tested until Round 3.

Hopes and temperatures seem to increase closer to gametime at Eagles stadium......nothing new, LOL. Sanger does have some talented players on their side of the fence......but I'm not sure the talent pool is greater than Argyle's. We shall see shortly.

Argyle wins the toss and Ledford says Argyle will take the ball first. It's a pink-out night in this game tonite at Eagles Stadium in tribute to Breast Cancer. The National Anthem is being played by the Argyle Band. Sanger in red and white jerseys with purple helmets tonite.

Kick bounces and Carter picks it up and returns it to the Argyle 40.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:05 PM
Gain of a couple of yards on that first down run.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:06 PM
Ledford to Cale Nanny on a laser to the sideline for a firstdown at the Sanger 47. Ledford keeps it for a yard gain at the sideline.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:07 PM
Don Williams gets a big hole down to the 21 yd line on that run.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:09 PM
Handoff to Williams again off right tackle and a big hole on a pancake block but a flag is down. That was a huge hole. Block in the back against Argyle.....a receiver that was totally unneccessary. 15 yd penalty was a big break there for Sanger.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:09 PM
2nd and 11 after a 4 yd gain on first after the penalty. Now a run by Estrada but a flag is down. Offsides Sanger.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:11 PM
2nd and 7 at the Sanger 18......Ledford pumps, scrambles, throws at the pilon to Estrada but it is imcomplete. 3rd and 7 now. If Ledford would have just kept it, he probably could have run it in.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:12 PM
Pass to Harper for only a yard. Field goal by Dylan Sadler good for 38 yds and an Argyle score to open the game.

Argyle 3
Sanger's turn now.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:14 PM
Sadler will kick it away now.....it's a touchback. Sanger begins on their own 25 yd. line. CJ Jackson at qb for Sanger. He hands it off to Moser up to the 31 for a gain of 6.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:15 PM
Now Jackson overthrows his reciever deep as 2 flags come out. Defensive holding called against Argyle....Sanger first down on the penalty out to near midfield......the 43.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:16 PM
Jackson loses a yard on that keeper. Now a handoff to Moser for only a yard gain.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:17 PM
A throwback to Moser on a screen pass, sidesteps the tackle and takes it down for a first down. Now Jackson throws deep downfield but Gage Campbell is there to break it up. A really good throw by Jackson on that deep throw.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:18 PM
Now Jackson keeps it down to the 24 of Argyle for another first down. Jackson has great speed.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:20 PM
A long throw downfield into the endzone as Robin Smith(6-4) brings it in against the shorter Dixon for a one hand grab and a Sanger TD. Dixon had him covered, but just a great pass and catch. The kick is good. Impressive drive by Sanger.

Sanger 7
Argyle 3

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:22 PM
Sanger has great speed and talent on the offensive side, as well as a big line that is pushing back the Argyle defensive line on that series. A high kickoff is fair caught by Argyle at their 28 yd line.

regaleagle

Ledford to Estrada on a 7 yd run on first down.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:24 PM

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:27 PM
A beautiful deep pass to Derek Carter for an Eagle TD. He was covered but the pass and catch was basically undefendable. Kick is good by Sadler. 2 minute drive for the Eagles.

Argyle 10
Sanger 7

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:28 PM
Another touchback by Sadler on that kickoff. Sanger at their own 25. A pass to midfield to Smith by Jackson and Sadler makes the tackle at the Argyle 48. Now Moser is dropped for a 2 yd loss.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:30 PM
Moser dropped after a 2 yd gain in the middle by the linebacker for Argyle. 3rd and 9 for Sanger at the Argyle 47. Long pass at the sideline as Gage Campbell leaps and gets it for the interception, but the ground causes him to lose it as he hits the ground. Here comes to the punt by Martinez. Sadler takes it from the 8 down to the 24 yd line on that rugby style punt.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:31 PM

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:34 PM

Martinez kick is wide right on a line drive kick.....maybe a hand on the ball. Argyle defense turns Sanger away and a big series is thwarted. Timeout Sanger now before the snap as Argyle takes over on its own 14 yd line.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:46 PM
Don Williams on the right side to the 24 yd line on first down.

Handoff to Dillon Carter down to the 14 yd line and another big collision. 3rd and 2 from the 12. Now Carter is in the end zone untouched but a flag down. They are calling a flag on Cale Nanny on that block. His hands were too extended on that block. 3rd and 3 all over again. Now again Carter runs it in untouched and flags down well after the play.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 07:54 PM
Lots of chippiness going on out there now. The play will count....something after the play. Offsetting personal fouls after the play is the call. Dillon Carter has lots of speed....he can qb, rb, return kicks, kick and punt....He's only a soph.

Williams up the middle for not much.....about 3 yds.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 09:23 PM
Ledford throws it to Nanny as a flag is down when the ball was snapped. Offsides Sanger on that blitz. The pass hit the defenders helmet as he closed on Nanny.

2nd and 3 from the Sanger 22. Harper keeps churning his legs down to the 14 yd line for a first down. Williams up the middle for a loss of one yard.

2nd and 11 from the Sanger 15 as Estrada is hit in the backfield for a loss of 3 yds. 3rd and 13 for Argyle as the clock is running.

Now Harper gets a pitch outside and he is thrown for a 2 yd loss. Here comes in the field goal team. A 36 yarder for Dylan Sadler and it is good. It's a 6 point lead with 3 minutes left.

Argyle 27
Sanger 21

Sadler kicking it deep to Moser.....they try a reverse and Peyton Howard bobbles it. Argyle tackles him at the 10 yd line.

CJ Jackson out to the flat and Moser is hit hard at the sideline for a 2 yd loss.

10-21-2016, 09:29 PM
Jackson is changing the play as he fakes the handoff and throws a high fastball to Smith out to the 20 for a first down.

Jackson out to Eagles territory out of bounds to the Argyle 43. Sadler saved a Touchdown.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 09:31 PM
Argyle blitzes and sacks Jackson at midfield. Loss of 7....2nd and 17. A throw on the screen to Moser goes incomplete on that pressure.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 09:32 PM
3rd and 17 at midfield and Sanger sideline calls a timeout right before the snap.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 09:32 PM
Biggest play of the game so far. They are in 2 down territory with 2 timeouts left.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 09:34 PM
2:01 to play......Jackson is being chased as he is gonna be forced out of bounds and now here comes a late hit on Argyle. Now its at the Argyle 30 yd line first down for Sanger.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 09:34 PM
Jackson on a keeper for only 2 yds.....great tackle by linebacker Horton.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 09:36 PM
Jackson is back to pass, he is hit by Pennington and the ball is loose.....the Argyle D recovers it and Argyle gets the ball on their own 35. CJ Jackson was double pumping because his recievers were covered on that jailbreak blitz.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 09:37 PM
Williams runs it for a yard. Argyle will attempt to kill the clock here. 2nd and 9 with 1:10 to play. Sanger has one more timeout.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 09:38 PM
Williams runs it for 9 yds and slides to stay out of bounds. They are calling him short by one yard, but Sanger calls their final timeout. Williams either lost his footing or purposely tried to go down to keep the clock running. He thought he had the first. 3rd and a yard.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 09:39 PM
Now the play clock is running down and Argyle runs out onto the field, but Argyle calls timeout. 3rd and a foot.

He we go......1 minute left......snap and Williams is very close but his knee hits. He may be called short. Argyle needs to punt it. 35 seconds left.

Jackson throws and Chase Petter intercepts it as Argyle wins this game. Sanger took Argyle to the final seconds in this one tonite in Argyle, but the Argyle D rose up repeatedly when they needed to all night to hold off a very impressive Sanger Indians team.

Anybody that tries to tell me this Sanger team ain't good has a screw loose or just doesn't know about talented players on a football field. These Sanger Indians are a really good team, even if they have been winning ugly. Let's just say this: Your team would not want to play them.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 09:48 PM
Sanger showed their big Oline as being very good, their defense as being very quick and tough, and all their talented backs and receivers as being very speedy and talented. Sanger made very few mistakes tonite.....as opposed to Argyle with lots of penalties almost all night long. Well over 100 yds of penalties against Argyle tonite.

Lots of team speed for the Indians on a great effort tonite. I'm sure they feel they had a chance to win this one, and they had some opportunities......but the Argyle D rose to the occasion several times during this game when they needed it.

regaleagle
10-21-2016, 09:55 PM
Lots of gray hair for Coach Todd Rodgers in this game tonite, but Argyle still wins in a tough game when things did not go the way the Eagles had hoped. Good game by both teams all night long......some untimely penalties by Argyle will be a learning experience for the players as the season goes forward. A very exciting game, for sure.

Sanger far and away played its best game of the season tonight. Argyle definitely helped keep the Indians in it with all the 15-yard penalties at crucial times. Proud of Sanger for keeping their heads togther after the punting gaffe right before the half, the game could have gotten ugly quickly.

Props to Argyle once again. They've definitely found an RB in the Ralston/Sweatt mode. Williams is a beast that got stronger as the game went along.

Hopefully Sanger uses this to boost condifidence to finish off district and into the playoffs. Would sure love to see a rematch in 6 weeks at CH Collins!

A rematch in 6 weeks at CH Collins is very possible, IMO. Both of these teams have more work to do first. Abilene Wylie may well be the "team to beat" in Division I Region 1. Most say Argyle, but there's still football to be played before the playoffs.

Argyle is the clear #1 in Reg 1 and they should go ahead and order new jerseys with a huge bullseye on the back! Little 'ol Wylie will be a push over, no need to worry about us... ;)

I was very impressed with Sanger last night. They definitely came ready to play. I would hate to have to face them in the playoffs. Look for Sanger to go deep and shock a lot of teams. Congrats on a hard fought battle Sanger.

That was an ugly game. Regal is right. Argyle is not the #1 team in Reg. I. As for Williams. The young man can't hold on to the ball or block. He put his QB in danger several times by not blocking. The secondary is very suspect. If the whole team can't keep their heads on straight (over 100 yds. in penalties in 5 games) they won't get out of the second round. Very frustrating game. First one I've seen this season so maybe this was a hiccup. I sure hope so.

I haven't seen them play yet either.....just listened to each game and watched the clips. But from what I'm taking in.....they lack discipline and make too many self-inflicted mistakes. Good athletes, but not playing together as a championship caliber team yet. I think they have the players in place, but still have lots of work left to do. Only 7 games so far, and lots without Ledford as the team leader on offense. Offense seems to sputter a little, and it puts lots of pressure on the D against a very good team. That's my analysis from afar of this year's Eagles so far. They have the potential, but have not come close to harnessing it in a great package yet. One big problem has been the constant penalties that should not be happening at this stage of the season. Get those ironed out and I think you see different results all around.

But they will get out of the second round, IMHO.

Oh no! The sky is falling!!! Sanger came in with good talent, and finally seems to use it effectively against a familiar opponent and came within 6 points of an upset over a rival!! ya know, things happen like that in HS football!! Argyle folks just need to be happy with the win..so they have some "things" to work out, so what!! Take the W and move forward and work to improve!! LOL. Y'all sounding like Cowboy fans back in the day when they would lose a game, or win ugly..." Don't worry..be happy"

I'm very pleased with the wins this season for the Argyle Eagles. To be able to continually win games like this team has for so long is just a testament to hard work and quality coaching. Argyle does not have that much better than the better competition......they just work hard, have established a winning tradition, and have garnered an excellent coaching staff thru the years to help the players improve their skill levels. There are many teams in 4A with just as many good athletes as Argyle. My son and I are very happy and proud to be a part of the Argyle tradition......even though we no longer live there. Go Eagles!!!

Sling, Wylie is the favorite is Reg 1.

Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkYou funny. Honest appraisal? Argyle is the clear #1 if they play to their ability. Wylie or Sanger could win if Argyle plays like they did Friday night but I don't expect that to happen--Coach Rogers and staff are probably the best in the state in 4A and will clean up the mistakes. Argyle is big up front, has very good skill position players and always stays calm in pressure situations and close games. They have access to the best off-season training and nutrition programs in the state.
Wylie is getting better offensively by leaps and bounds every week, the defense has been one of the best in the state since the start of the season. We have been playing catch up with the off season programs but have made great strides the last couple of years thanks to programs like D-One and Action Zone. I do believe we can give Argyle a serious challenge this year if we stay healthy.
