I saw this thread started on Smoaky, and thought it was really interesting, so I stole it. I'd love to hear some of the all-time teams from you guys.

It will take me a while but to make one. All I know for sure is Tony Brackens at nose and Larry Rose at RB. Also, What offense are we running here?

Well WOS would definitely include Super Bowl champs Earl Thomas (Seattle) and Kevin Smith (Dallas) and I'd put Deon Beasley in there. There are quite a few more but those are the big three off the top of my head

1. Clarence Williams (played at G.W. Carver HS in Sweeny before integration, won Carver Negro League State Championship 1965)
- college: Prairie View A&M (All American OT)
- Dallas Cowboys & Green Bay Packers (1969-1977)
- started 8 yrs. for the Packers at DE
- Honorable Mention All Pro

2. Elmo Wright (1966 State Champion team in Sweeny, 1965 Carver State Champion team as well)
- All State WR, Texas HS Hall of Fame
- college: University of Houston (All American WR twice, UH Hall of Fame, still holds many UH records)
- Touchdown Club Outstanding Player Award 1970, NCAA Lineman of Year 1970
- given credit by everyone including NFL Network for performing the 1st end zone dance while at UH & then in the pros
- nephew is Rod Wright from UT fame (All American DT & now with Dolphins); very athletic family top to bottom in Houston Area
- KC Chiefs, Houston Oilers, NE Patriots (1971-1976)

3. Jim Lindsey (1966 State Champion team in Sweeny)
- All State QB
- college: Abilene Christian (All American QB NCAA Division 2)
- set many passing records at ACC, 4 year letterman
- Canadian Football League w/ Calgary & Toronto (1970-1976)
- All CFL QB, won Grey Cup 1971

4. Raymond Butler
- multiple sport honoree in hs (football, basketball, track)
- JUCO All American WR at Wharton County JC
- college: Southern California (All American WR, led country in punt returns 1979)
- 10 yr. career w/ Colts, Seahawks, & Browns (1980-1989)
- NFL All Rookie Team
- after career ended played professional softball for traveling Budweiser national team for many years

5. Tracey Simien
- All State, HS All American DE, THSCA All Star Game
- Super 75 Blue Chipper
- elite in track as well (shot & discus won state twice, got 3rd once)
- college: TCU (played 5 different positions, 4 year letterman)
- team co-captain, 4 year starter, & All SWC DE
- 10 yr. pro career w/ Steelers, Saints, Chiefs, & Chargers (best days were starting LB for Chiefs (1991-1997)

6. Cedric Woodard
- All State OT & DE, MVP THSCA All Star Game on defense
- elite in track as well (won state in shot put & 3rd in discus)
- Top 100 recruit, nationally recruited
- college: University of Texas 1996-1999 (4 yr. letterman)
- All Big 12 1st team & All Big 12 2nd team during career
- named Defensive MVP senior year at Texas
- 2000-2004 pro career w/ Ravens, Seahawks, & Saints (best days were as starting DT w/ Seattle, knee injury ended career)

7. George Layne (played senior year at Alvin due to family reasons)
- FB/LB in hs w/ many honors at Sweeny & Alvin
- college: TCU (starting FB & lead blocker when LaDainian Tomlinson burst on the scene for the Horned Frogs)
- father also played for TCU in '70s
- 2 yr. starter, 4 year letterman for TCU
- All WAC during career at TCU
- pro career w/ Falcons, Chiefs, & Chargers 2001-2005

8. Kevin Garrett
- many hs honors at Sweeny on offense & defense
- clocked a 10.09 in the 100 in hs, national AAU track champion as well
- cousin of Charger DB Quentin Jammer from Angleton
- college: SMU (4 year letterman)
- named All WAC during career at SMU
- named Freshman of Year in WAC
- double major at SMU, now holds master's degree as well
- pro career w/ Rams, Chiefs, & Texans 2003-2006

9. Johnnie Lee Higgins, Jr.
- many honors at Sweeny in football, basketball, & track
- college: UTEP (4 year letterman, 3 year starter)
- clocked in low 4.2s in 40 consistently, including a 4.18 last year
- All C-USA during career at UTEP as WR/KR, more than 30 TDs in career
- named AFCA All American WR (1st Team) last week for 2006
- finished 2nd in country receiving yds. per game senior year
- Drafted by the Oakland Raiders 3RD RD 99TH OVERALL; also played for the Philadelphia Eagles

10. Tank Carder
- many honors at Sweeny in football
- When he was 10 years old, Carder was a BMX World Champion. Battled back from a life-threatening injury at age 13, when he sustained a broken back, broken ribs, a punctured diaphragm and punctured lung after being thrown from a vehicle, which then rolled over him.
- Regarded as a 2 Star Recruit by Rivals.com
- Four-year letterman at Texas Christian University, where he was named a two-time Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year (2010, 2011).
- the 2011 Rose Bowl, Carder was named Defensive MVP of the Game.
- Carder was selected in the fifth round, 147th overall, in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills
- Currently plays LB for the Cleveland Browns

- HS All American, team captain as LB/RB, "monster man" position
- college: Sam Houston State (MVP 3 years) as DB/SE
- elected to Hall of Honor at SHSU, All American NCAA Division 2
- All Lone Star Conference as well, 2nd in punt returns
- final player cut by Houston Oilers due to small size after career at SHSU

Mark Gregurek
- lots of honors in hs at Sweeny, blue chip recruit as OT
- college: SWT, started & played under Jim Wacker (4 year letterman as OT)
- National Champions 1981 & 1982 in Division 2 (now 1-AA)
- All Lone Star Conference during career at SWT
- played briefly w/ Houston Gamblers of USFL after career at SWT

Mark Washington
- lots of honors in hs at Sweeny in football, basketball, & track
- father Raymond was tremendous athlete at SWT & is inducted into their Hall of Honor for football (former successful coach in Sweeny)
- All State QB & ran a 10.78 sec 100 meters in hs
- Top 100 recruit
- college: Texas Tech (4 year letterman 1997-2001) as WR/DB
- started at safety senior year
- played in Arena Football League after career at Tech
