Sea Land right off the 71 bypass next to Weikels and across from McDonald's. Best seafood gumbo in 50 mile radius and great burgers very reasonably priced. Extensive dinner menu includes fresh seafood and great chicken fried steak or rib eye.

Appreciate the feedback. I had looked online and saw a top 10, but sometimes those can be inaccurate.

1. Weikel's Deli
2. Bistro 108
3. Murphy's Steakhouse
4. Sealand Seafood and Steak
5. Prause Market
6. Reba's
7. Las Fuentes
8. Hank's Express
9. Latte on the Square
10. Taqueria Rio Verde

So, Las Fuentes or Rio Verde for Mexican?

Whatever the name of that mexican restaurant as you pass river bridge coming down slope on 77 and go a few blocks pass stadium entrance off 77, and its on your left before entering downtown. AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGG. I go there everytime I go to LG. Try the rita's too. :2thumbsup

Hmmmm, I do have to pass it this Friday enroute to Giddings.

Sealand Seafood is a lot like Baytown Seafood if you ever ate at one of them lot of food for the money.

Las Fuentes good Mexican food and chips and salsa.

Appreciate the responses. Not opposed to stopping in Giddings or Schulenburg if there is something that is considerably better.

nothing in Giddings worth stopping for IMO especially if passing through Schulenburg. Eat the buffet at Oakridge. Better than anything in La Grange as well

There's a place in Giddings old downtown area by the light has the best home cooked food I have ever had. I drove 1.5 hrs out of the way to have their sweet potatoes and cabbage. My mouth is watering as I type this.

If you get to Giddings well before 2pm, we have the best taqueria around. Prepare to wait in line up to 30 minutes or more if the line goes out the front door.
Taqueria Chihuahua. On hwy 290 across from autozone.

Since I started a thread on this, I figured I better report back. Decided on Las Fuentes in La Grange. Both the salsa and green dip were solid. Chips were also good, which is important as some places use the cheap chips.

Decided on the lunch special beef fajitas ($8.95). I have not traveled all that extensively, but these were the best fajitas I have ever had. Seasoned extremely well and the meat was tender. Very generous portions. Rice and beans were both solid. Overall, excellent meal. Would rate A+ and would strongly recommend.
