Giddings fastest team we will have faced Val. Not sure we can withstand the Buff depth when plug is pulled to end our district schedule preparations. Giddings #2's and #3's likely more talented. Staying healthy, and getting these many young "pups" some rep's against quality opponents (Cuero, Taylor, Giddings) to build our depth is/was critical heading into district and beyond. Wish this was week 1 or 3 game.

YTB: Your one of the toughest non-district schedules in the state comes to an end. You held your own pretty well against them 4A's. Now, it takes it toll. Giddings caliber too much, Buff's by a bunch, like 55-14.

Hard to account for the "picked for homecoming game" anger. But I say Giddings by 10 unless we turnover the ball more than twice.

Glad to see Giddings and Yoakum series back. They played non dist for close to 20 yrs and that ended in 2006. . Very competitive games with close to even in series with a couple of ties.they had a playoff game in second round in 2008 that Gidding won 44-28 In 2012 and 2013 they were in same dist for first time since the 1970's . Very tight games but Yoakum won both.
Whether Yoakum wins or loses they will be a better team by playing a team the caliber of Giiddings Both teams have size and speed so it will be a fun game to watch. Giddings has allways been a class team to play and that's why I glad they are playing again. Hope the series lasts more than 2 yrs.
Yoakum has a might good Hville ball club coming to Yoakum on 9-23 for first dist game so I hope they keep improving with no injuries for Yoakum .
Also hope Giddings has no injuries and there no doubt they are very good.

I agree BD, always a dog fight when we play you guys. With that being said, I hope that we continue to figure out our new roles on offense and get another win. Yoakum is going to be fine, I predict district champs for you guys.

Yoakum has a really good team and should win their district. They are able to make big plays on offense with their fast guys.

Giddings was able to block 2 punts and recovered one of them in the endzone for a TD. This was the difference in a tough hard fought game.

Both teams had their chances. I know the Buffs had at least 3 plays where the ball was overthrown to open receivers waaay downfield.

It was very hot and humid, with no breeze. I was pouring sweat just sitting in the stands. Both sides had players going both ways, and some were getting cramps late in the game.

There were a few bad calls/non calls against both teams.

Giddings' coach got flagged for unsportsman like conduct after coming on the field and barking at a ref for a non call for holding that resulted in a Yoakum TD.

The Yoakum fans had their turn to be PO'd at the ref's a couple of times too. One was a late hit on their QB after he threw the ball.

Giddings is an excellent club with speed and size. They outplayed Yoakum in every phase of game . As usual a very class program and playing teams the caliber of Cuero,Taylor, and Giddings will only help Yoakum in district play. There a mighty good Hville ball coming coming to Yoakum Friday. It should be a great game. Good luck to Giddings rest of season and glad they are back on our non dist schedule.
