The Brazosport Exporters gave the Cleveland Indians a close football game on Sept. 9, but the end of the fourth quarter turned in favor of their opponents with the Indians defeating the Exporters, 54-41.

The Indians dominated in the first quarter of the game, scoring four touchdowns and three PATs over a single touchdown from the Exporters, 27-6.

However, the Exporters matched the Indians in the second quarter, starting with a touchdown from Jalen Johnson followed by a PAT. Ameer King added another touchdown to the team’s score with a PAT coming after Johnson scored one more touchdown for the team. Another PAT tied the Exporters with the Indians, 27-27.

King broke the tie at the beginning of the third quarter, giving the Exporters a 33-27 lead. However, the lead was broken halfway through the quarter by Jett Hendrix, who made a touchdown to tie the game before the team scored a PAT, leading over the Exporters 34-33.

The Exporters quickly regained the lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter due to a touchdown made by Fabian Peoples and a two-point conversion, putting the Exporters ahead of their opponents, 41-40.

The Indians fought back hard against the Exporters, but many of their efforts did not give them back the lead until an interception was made with a little over four minutes left in the game, resulting in a touchdown followed by a two-point conversion by Dylan Reeves, putting the Indians ahead of the Exporters, 48-41.

The Exporters had one last chance to score a much needed touchdown and score a two-point conversion or a PAT to keep the game in their favor, but their chance was denied by Jonathan Salcido of the Indians, who intercepted the ball and scored another touchdown for the Indians, increasing their lead to 54-41.

With 10 seconds left in the game, the Exporters tried to make one final touchdown for the evening, but the Indians did not allow it to happen and maintained their 13 point lead until the clock ran out.

The Exporters now stand with one win and two losses. Their next game is scheduled for Sept. 16 against the Sweeny Bulldogs.
