Always a great game between contrasting styles, and a game with supreme effort from both sides.
IMHO we played a bigger, faster version of Decatur last week vs. Northwest, losing in the last minute 27-21..alot of screens, bubbles, mixed with the occasional deep pass or crossing route, some zone read and stretch plays. the mistakes we made are correctable first game stuff, and the Indians will come in improved. a lot of respect for coach Fuller and the Decatur program and look fwd to this always exciting showdown!!

Uh-oh......I voted for Argyle's district foe in this one. Now I suddenly don't feel very confident about this pick.....I had a hard time picking Decatur in the first place, LOL. I think this game is what I would consider a toss-up this early in the season. Springtown.......that's who Decatur scored on like the Everyready Bunny. It sure wasn't a team the caliber of Justin Northwest. Guess we'll find out how close of a "toss-up" this game really is come Friday night, huh?

Northwest is underrated this year in 5A, even though they were at least competitive with a young team in 6A last year..but, I digress. The Indians are better this year than the 2015 version, and will only get better as this season progresses. Only reason I haven't been as vocal is I've been busy getting my oldest settled in at A&M, and my middle son is on JV this season. I watched the Decatur/spring town game on video and I stand by my statement that Northwest is a bigger, faster version of Decatur with a much better defense.

Northwest is a hard team to compare Decatur to when you haven't seen the 2016 Decatur team. Your comparing last years team. Decatur's QB (Ticknor) was a linebacker and tailback last year entering the Alvarado game. At half, he moved to QB and took over for the rest of the year. Ticknor has had an entire off season at QB, I'm not sure of exact stats but it was something like 22-26 390 yds and didn't play in the 4th quarter last week against Springtown. Not to mention 3 year starter at tailback McAllister back there with him. This is not the same offense you saw last year. Decatur's defense, on the other hand, will give up yards and points. Can we stop the run game? Probably not. But we hope for some breaks here and there. It's always a good one between these two teams, I expect the same Friday night.

I watched the full Decatur/springtown game from last week..and we know #13 all too well..and he will, once again, be a challenge to stop. I was impressed with the QB for sure!!
This game will be exciting to say the least!!

I'm not going to make any predictions, but if you are expecting the same Decatur team you faced last year you are sadly mistaken. Decatur has an explosive offense. The QB is showing to be much more accurate and poised as compared to last year. #13 is a bigger, faster and stronger version of the player who has wrecked shop consistently the last three years. Both sides of the line are improved. This is just simply a much better team all around. Alvarado certainly has a chance at winning this game, but they will have to keep Decatur's offense off the field to do so. The Indians are built for ball control so this should be a great game.

This is always good game between these two teams. Appears that Decatur had its way with Springtown last week. Will be different scenario this week. Decatur will have to make the most of each offensive opportunity. With that said, this will be a great game.

Decatur 5 turnovers, Alvarado 2. Decatur goes for 2 on its first three TD's and gets denied every time. Alvarado kicks the extra points on all theirTD's and converts every single time (Smart Coaching). It was sloppy for Decatur on Offense, even though I'm sure we put up a lot of yards. I thought our defense came up huge in times when it had to. Alvarado was sound on offense and controlled that clock like they always have, they are coached the right way. Good luck rest of season!

It was a tale of two halfs. Looked like this was going to be a rout before Decatur settled down. Indians committed careless unnecessary turnovers late in the fourth when we should have easily ran out the clock. Decatur can score fast when they execute. We will find out exactly where we are next week against Kennedale
