The Ricebirds will be facing the second of three straight 5A teams this week in #10 Angleton. The Wildcats are big,fast and aggressive in the trenches and have depth all over the field. They also bring BJ Foster who is ranked as the 2018 number one recruit in the nation. Gonna be a real up hill battle for the Birds but I know they will show up and make the Wildcats work for every yard they get.

Pigskin Prep has the Angleton by 7. If it's that close I'll be more than happy.My homer pick is - Birds in a squeaker for the upset.

Yeah they had a good year, but it doesn't nornally work out like that for them despite almost always being ranked pretty high

Angleton has gone four rounds deep in four of the last seven seasons and three deep in two others in that span.

And this year they are in Region 4, with someone like BJ Foster. Should be the favorite to win a regional championship.

Hmm, didn't seem like they did that great but okay. Did they ever make it past the 4th rd? guess they've done better than I remember them doing but they've never felt like a serious contender to me

............except they may not win their district. Foster is the favorite there and Calallen is favored to win the region,but Angleton will be in the mix big time.

Too bad El Campo could never get pushed down to region 4 in the old 4A.

Always had to match up with the La Marque/Texas City district in the first round(and before that A&M Consol in their heyday).

Meanwhile Calallen went to 10 semifinals and only managed to beat the Region 3 team one time.

Yea, region three has always been a hard road to the semis no matter what level. What burns me is,the UIL seems to think they can eventually sneak a dallas team into region 4. LOL

Expect this game to be won in the trenches with both teams having a lot of size.And depth at running backs positions. Could be a low scoring game. Going with the Birds at home. Gregory Portland must have been a really week team while I was surprised with Angleton's only 20-0 score against Galveston Ball

After Angletons punter pinned EC inside the 5 three straight times,the Birds finally got in gear with a 97 yard drive and the score. Wildcats 13 Ricebirds 7. Almost halftime.

A lot of teams might look overrated against the Birds.

El Campo is that good IMO! I had Angleton in a playoff game last year, and with all they had coming back are the real deal. EC is in for a good year!!!
