Oh, for sure. They're not a bad team at all. In fact, Coach Elliot talked all week about how impressed he was with the Panthers. But if Celina plays its A game, that score is reversed and then some. This loss could be a good teaching/learning point for the Bobcats, though.

No excuses from Navasota. We made mistakes and so did Franklin. The difference is that Franklin has a power running game with more than one weapon. The game has been over for awhile and I don't think they have stopped running yet. Navasota showed moments of good on offense and then would self-destruct. The new QB and receivers are pretty good, but they are not on the level of the last two years yet. Franklin is a damned good team and should compete for the 3ADIV1 title again.

HalftimeThis was an UGLY game... worst half of offense I've seen in 14 years following Wylie football. Yuck. As predicted--defense was very good with a couple of blown assignments but otherwise dominant. Hats off to Vernon--they came to play. We FINALLY turned it on the last 11 minutes or so of the game to win 15-9... Lots of work to do.

Not sure on that one. Celina lost its opener back in 2012, but that was the last time. Southlake Carrol also lost its opener last night.

I know there are some around Celina who will panic about this loss. It was as ugly a loss as Celina has had in quite some time, and it was a very winnable game. But Princeton is a good team with a lot of returning experience. And the Bobcats made a king's ransom-worth of mistakes. The good news is all those mistakes are correctable, and it's not a matter of lack of talent. The talent is there, but it's young. These coaches will get things figured out. We may still take another lump or two, but there's still plenty to be excited about with this year's Bobcats.

That's amazing. I don't care who you're playing and what classification they are. You keep a team from even netting a foot on the ground for four quarters ... that's nothing to bat an eye at. I'm hoping you are right. We knew they were going to be really good, but that was a dominating performance last night against a traditionally quality opponent. We'd have a much better chance if this defense were back in the 80's, before the spread and such, but regardless, I think they will have a special season.
