Both teams looked pretty good. McGregor should do well this year.

Lorena held out best player, Spivey, for 2nd week. Broke foot in final playoff game of 2015, and making sure plenty of healing.

A good prep for our opener against Liberty Hill as the Lions run the slot t. Our passing game looked very good and our depth at running back was evident with Haardt and Johnson making long td runs. Of particular note was a very good pass defense although the Lions are primarily a running team. JK Dobbins did not suit up as expected. Looking forward to our game next week against top 5 ranked Liberty Hill.

Not shocked to hear that McGregor is looking good. Had a fairly decent team last year and return most of everyone. I expect them to be in the playoffs in a tough district.

Gobblers D looks to be very strong again. Fun to watch if you are from Cuero. Our kids seem to be in such good physical shape .Hard work paying off from the summer.

Arrived late for China Spring/Robinson scrimmage

Saw Robinson offense a few plays, nothing spectacular but they did move the ball; I think it ended with a CS interception

Saw CS offense get stuffed a few plays and then rip off a big run and then score a long pass to a receiver that looks like he should be in college.

Then it all was called off on the account of lightening.

Everyone healthy?Pretty much--had a couple starters held out with sprains. Defense is salty. Offense has some work to do--new QB, new recievers... timing will come with reps.

I didn't get to see the Henderson / Gilmer scrimmage, but I've heard from a Henderson fan that in the controlled portion it was relatively even, and Gilmer won the live half 21-7. He said Gilmer looks "good", "tough on both sides of the ball", and "polished, especially in the passing game". The three TDs Gilmer scored are on YouTube.

Barker has the pedigree. He has the right philosophies. And he's inherited great athletes and kids at Tatum. That's a recipe for a quick turnaround, and I think we'll see it this season with Tatum. I know Jasper has some talent, but I think the Eagles have the makeup to win that district. If they get a big win or two early - say, over Henderson - then that confidence is through the roof, the 0-10 is a faded memory, and the boys in Green could become a tough out for anybody in Region II.
