I'm partial to purple and gold as far as school colors, but the coolest mascots had to be jaspers male and female bulldogs.

I'm a Marlin Bulldogs, but I do recall around the 4th week of the playoffs their were alot of bulldogs teams still playing in 3A, eventually the Bulldogs of Banderra won.....hail to the Bulldogs Mascots Hopefully Bulldogs will prevailed in 2003 Marlin Marlin Marlin.

Believe I counted 23 schools with "Bulldogs" as their mascots in 3A. Rarest are Progresso "Red Ants" and Cameron "Yoemen". (click on "mascots" from the front page of this site).

Maroon and White, (with some silver-grey thrown in at times. Coolest Uniforms was back around 81-82 when the uniforms were just like Dallas, except had maroon instead of blue and had script Bulls instead of star.)

Coolest school colors have to be red black and white.. Like a certain team i know of.. the Gainesville Leopards.. our uniforms are like the Denver Bronco's except with Red and white instead of orange and blue..
ugliest would have to go to any team that mixes Red and blue.. (no offense if anybody supports a team that does that, but those colors just seem to clash in football uniforms)

I really think that Texas is Football capitol of the world. We Texans take our football serious, from peewee to the NFL. You can be in a grocery store or in a barbershop, and during football season, the main topic is football. 3A Downlow is pretty serious, we all support our communities and wish the best, sometimes putting high expectations on 16 and 17 year-old kids that we wouldn't be able to handle ourselves. Competition really brings out the best in most of us, but on the other hand it can also bring out the worst in us. My father raised me to be very competitive and I am a father now, but I want my sons to know that winning isn't everything, because you will not win in everything that you do, but be able to loose and know that you left everything out on the field. Football has alot to do with life's lessons, the Marlin Bulldogs lost to Bellville, alot of us expected different, but when life throws you a curve that you don't expect you will have to be ready, I must say I am proud of the Bulldogs on handling the lost to Bellville and the lost of #9 Alvin Hall RB he will be gone but not forgotten so my hats off to a town, a team and a young man that left it all on the field everytime. RIP little Alvin form D. Scott 87'

(no offense if anybody supports a team that does that, but those colors just seem to clash in football uniforms)I know what you mean Keith7 - Greenwoods colors are columbia blue and white - but a few years ago we had red as an "Accent" color. The boys pants might be red with a columbia blue jersey and red numbers. I DID NOT like it. But one year the players had navy blue pants and navy blue numbers and lo and behold, the next year the cheerleaders uniforms were navy blue - we just kinda phased out the red and went with navy blue - much better! Except for the poor old band - they have to wear the same uniforms for about 10 years and they are still columbia blue, white with red accents. They kinda clash with everything around them - I think they are getting new ones this year though........I hope so!!

Ingleside's old baseball uniforms were awesome. Royal blue and white with a black trim. The home jerseys were the best... blue lettering with black trim on a white shirt. But now they've gone back to a silver trim instead of black. Kinda sucks.

Sinton's combination of maroon and white with silver accents are the best looking uniforms I have ever seen. To me, they appear very professional, even the "away" unis are cool. Check 'em out:

I love the never-ending S but I don't like the Pirates written across the bottom
They look like the ones the Mathis Pirates have had for a few years now and i didn't take to those either
They might go back to just the never-ending S next year
