Not 4A, but--what a mess!!! Taylor out again as HC there. Move on Kyle, clear your services not wanted by this board.:vrycnfsd:

GOLIAD - Goliad High School is almost certain to have a new head football coach next season.

The Goliad school board voted unanimously Monday to reject renewing Kyle Taylor's contract.

Superintendent Daves Plymale recommended not to renew the contract after a 25-minute executive session during a special meeting.

Trustee Brandon Huber made the motion to accept Plymale's recommendation, which was seconded by Carlos Gutierrez, before it received a 7-0 vote.

Plymale declined to give a reason for his recommendation or why Taylor was placed on administrative leave for a second time earlier this month.

"State law prevents me from commenting on personnel issues at this time," he said after the meeting.

Plymale said Taylor would remain on administrative leave, and would have 15 days to request a hearing after receiving notice of the board's action.

Taylor, whose contract expires June 30, was not at the sparsely attended meeting.

Attempts to reach him by phone for comment Monday were unsuccessful.

Taylor was originally placed on administrative leave in March 2015 after a parent filed a complaint alleging Taylor had made inappropriate remarks to her daughter.

The trustees voted 4-3 in April not to renew Taylor's contract.

They reversed their decision and reinstated Taylor by a 4-3 vote after a lengthy hearing in July.

Taylor was arrested June 30 and charged with Class B misdemeanor harassment of a Goliad High School student. Taylor was charged a second time with the same offense on Oct. 7 after allegations from another female student were investigated by the Goliad County Sheriff's Office.

The pretrial for the first case is scheduled for April 11, and the jury trial is set for April 25. The pretrial for the second case is scheduled for May 18, and the jury trial is set for June 6.

Taylor was promoted from Goliad's offensive coordinator to athletic director and head football coach in February 2015 after John Mares retired.

Taylor was previously the athletic director and head football coach at Goliad from 1994 to 1998.

After Taylor was placed on administrative leave the first time, the trustees named Debra Bauer as athletic director in June.

Taylor coached last season and led the Tigers to an 8-5 record and the second appearance in the regional playoffs in school history.

Plymale indicated it was premature to talk about plans for hiring a new football coach.

"Not at this time," he said. "We have to wait to let this process see through."

Yes, by all means, wait until late May or June to hire a new AD - they'll be numerous coaches waiting to be hired in Goliad... I have NO IDEA the real story - not defending Coach Taylor but I find it very suspect that the 'original incident' happened during football season of 2014 but the parent didn't bring charges up until Coach Taylor was promoted from OC to AD in February 2015. I agree Snotbubbles - he needs to pack his stuff and move away and forget he ever went back to Goliad.
