I was there, and it was hard to believe that they ran that time out of lane 1.

I was at the state meet in 1977 and watched Carl Williams out of West Columbia run a 9.199 100 yd dash.
They rounded it off to a 9.2 flat.
Johnny Lam Jones came out of the stands and bowed down to him because he had just shattered his meet record.
Classic!

You are correct, a 100 meters is just shy of 109 yds. So lets put in these terms a 9.3 100 yds equates to a 10.0 ,100 meter time.
Williams was just a little faster than that, He was on the 4x100m relay in the Goodwill games in the early 80"s.

aahhh, ok gotcha. I guess I didn't realize the date in the thread, back when they use to run the 100yd
