Absolutely good hire for Tatum, bad for Kaufman. He brought a struggling Kaufman football program back into prominence in his tenure.

Struggling? They were 8-4 the year before he got there, beating Liberty-Eylau in the 1st round of the playoffs then losing by 7 to state-runner-up Carthage in the 2nd.

He starts Tuesday. First duty is district meeting in Diboll. Then, it's on.

Yep, the Lions had a good year in 2013 under York, but I was talking about historically. Nine winning seasons since 1990, so yes, the Kaufman program has struggled. Two rounds deep the last three seasons, with the last two being under Barker. I definitely think Barker had the program headed the right direction, and I think he is a good hire for Tatum. Time will tell.

Good turnout last night at hoops game for the "Meet the Barkers"...

His DC Hylander was also there. Had lots going on with the two NFL gold balls and a surprise appearance from NFL Hall of Fame'r Andre Reed..
