TD Eagles. Turnovers and special teams.

16 first downs to 6 and 250+ yds to 100 but doesn't matter. 17-14 argyle.... Smh

You won't win many games with 4 turnovers. Argyle taking advantage and making plays. La Vega better go score and take care of the ball or this one could get away quickly.

Just said all 17 points have came off of 3 of La Vega's 4 TOs.

Well so far they playing undisciplined. Being way to careless and comfortable.

I know there's been no holding whatsoever because that only applies when you play a team that doesn't allow anyone to run for positive yardage on them. Pulling for Argyle to pull this one off :D

Saggy Aggie

TD pirates. They take the lead back 20-17

Qb needs to be careful on that little comeback route, argyle thinking about jumping that route and taking it the other way.

321 yards to 100, but 4 LV turnovers and excellent special teams keeping argyle in it.

I was very impressed with the La Vega team this season, and also impressed that Argyle played thru the gauntlet they did in Region 2 just to make it to the SC game. LE was a very athletic team, and Pittsburg was tough with their defense and quarterback being so good. Argyle was not without some very good athletes, and many starters will be back next season.....don't have the exact number, but lots. It was a very entertaining and very competitive season this year in both 4A divisions, and all teams that made it 3 rounds deep were pretty darn good football teams. WOS vs La Vega would be a match made in football heaven this season. Celina was very good, but losing your star qb that is responsible for over half your offense and makes the whole enchilada go is a tough and bitter pill to swallow in the SC title game, esp. on the very first series. All in all, I don't think anyone should be complainin'......except that the season is now over for us. On to roundball now, sportsfans. GO EAGLES!!

LH fans took these comments the wrong way. Navarro fans love LH. Our coach has an LH connection. I'm pretty sure Tejas was talking about 4A DI-DII champ comparisons not anything about LH. When I read the comment about La Vega being the best in 4A, I took a peak at their games this year. The LH game jumped out at me because I wasn't impressed watching the La Vega - Argyle game in how La Vega ran their offense. They sputtered and made a lot mistakes. I mentioned the LH game because I find it hard to believe the best team in 4A can get shutout. It can only be taken as a compliment to LH whether La Vega is the best team in 4A or not. La Vega is obviously a great team.

Will some one explained to me what undisciplined is? I saw Argyle give LaVega 10 yards in zero seconds for having 12 men on field in the all important last 1:30 of the 4th Quarter. How undisciplined is that in the 16th game of the season with "an extremely well disciplined" team?

Tejastrue has no love for LH, rooted in old rivalry and forged by the fact that LH can still play the best like AW and LV and be in contention, Wimberley not so much anymore.

I have no love for LH...that's funny. Maybe that is true. We just disagree in regards to the weather being a factor for the ineptness of offense in that game. Yes, both teams played on the same field. The passing game is a large part of the LV offense and it is my opinion that the weather inhibited that as much as the LH defense. Never said your team was average as you have suggested about Wimberley. But if you have paid attention...we are on the mend. Just about all of our kids will be returning next year and I know you'll understand this because you guys have one. Try losing a couple of the best high school coaches in the state of Texas (Nelms and Smith) and see if you don't have a letdown. The lull is over however. We are back.

Weather may have been a factor, but then again here are some numbers. Across 13 games, LH gave up an average of 15.1 points, holding 6 out of 13 of those teams to a TD or less. For LV, across 17 games LV gave up an average of 16.7 points, holding 5 out of 17 teams to a TD or less. Now in two of their last 3 games they gave up 31 points against very good offenses which skewed the average slightly higher. Overall, defensively the number suggest both teams very similar on average. LV just happened to have larger and faster guys on their defense. I think their defense was so good it kept them in games when their offense was sputtering, and yes fumbling. Defense simply came out, shut down the opposing O and gave the ball back to their offense for another try - I saw a lot of that Friday in the SC game.

They are a very good team and I congratulate them on such a great season. Being a young team, they will be a force to be reckoned with next season as well.

Yea try being in the same district with them.

What you describe is exactly what happened in the CS vs LV District game which was 16 to 14. LaVega ran up and down the field but shot itself in the foot nearly every drive. CS would get the ball back and couldnt do squat. Cobb shut down CS's playmaker in both games.

The LH vs LV playoff game was played in a rain storm which did nothing but help both already very good defenses.

I have refrained from even saying anything as needed to get some clearance from his dad. I have seen some posts (on other threads) about how inept Argyles offense was. One HUGE reason for that was that our most dynamic player, Drew Estrada, suffered a torn Tibiofibular ligament in his knee with 2 mins left in the AW game. It is amazing that the kid was even able to tough it out and play but he did. The first time he even tested it was during warm ups yesterday afternoon. He means so much to our team. He kicks off (always through the endzone) punts, plays RB, returns kicks, and even plays defense. He gutted that game out (even punted) but was in a ton of pain. He clearly could not cut but hung in there the entire game. He even made an awesome 40 yd catch. I am not posting this as an excuse. We clearly lost to La Vega. I am mostly pointing this out to give him the credit that he deserves. He was in huge pain, was not himself, but played through it. So proud of him and our boys. I am sure there will be those on this thread that question my motive for posting this but if you have seen Argyle play this year, you would understand what that kid means to our team. I'm sure our Celina neighbors would attest.

I agree. This region was district 13 and LH. However I must say LaVega got battle hardened with District 13 to prepare them for a deep playoff run.

It was their game against the Rockets that got them the most prepared. They got in some good practice on offense scoring 56 points, but it was mainly our offense scoring 21 points on them that straightened them up on defense.

No questions here. It has been an amazing run thus far for the Eagles. You guys are always in the conversation. I am envious at times but support my Texans wholeheartedly. Congrats on getting back to the SC and coming so close once again. Argyle players and fans should hold their heads high!

After total reflection on the game, I have an analysis. So obvious was the fact that LV had so much talent, but what was less obvious to supposedly astute high school football fans, but not the LV coaching staff.....was that despite all the difference in talent level and bang-ups by Argyle, they really did an excellent job in pushing this highly talented LV team to the limit. Actually, Argyle had a chance to win this game, but the earphones on the coaching staff went Nilly right at the most important time of the game, and they could not communicate. Coach Rodgers said it had such an adverse effect on his defensive guys that it made ALL the difference in the final outcome of the game. I cannot say whether this is a true depiction of what happened....I will only say this: I believe Coach Todd Rodgers is an honorable man and knows all the ins and outs of what it takes to win a State Championship. I am quite satisfied with La Vega winning the whole enchilada because they had super atheletes, but at the same time I applaud and also hang my head for what happened leading up to the last minute in this game and feel somewhat sorry for the Eagles defense because it wasn't their fault. They played an absolutely excellent game, in my opinion.....and made far less mistakes than did LV. But in the end, the mistakes made on the sideline adversely affected the game and kept the Eagles defense from doing what they do best. It was a great game and there was much added that an ordinary playoff or SC title game would not have. Kudos to La Vega and Coach Williams and his stalff, but also kudos to all the fans that watched this one and love 4a football. It truly was a jockeying of the teams on the field that decided the final outcome. Great Game!!!
