He is a redshirt sophmore at Texas and it looks like he is transferring. He was the backup center this year and I believe was going to contend for the starting job next year so I wonder what happened? I KNOW there are alot of Celina faithful on here that will have the true story. I thought at one time maybe his father was a poster as well? I hope the best for Jake, he was an animal in high school so I am sure he will land on his feet somewhere. Surely he is going to continue playing ball? Did something specific happen or is he just looking for a better opportunity for playing time?

I also just noticed that this post right will make 999 for me! DISCLAIMER: I have posted much more than this and have been on the board for much longer than 2009.

I believe he earned his degree already, and is now seeking even higher education at a different university. Super bright kid, and you're right, Bull, he was a monster on the field for the Bobcats. Sure would like to have him suited up tonight!

He sure would help the Bobcats tonight! So he should have a couple years of eligibility left, will he continue playing? I thought I remember his Dad or one of the Celina posters mentioning he wanted to be a doctor. Am I crazy or was I right about that? I could be WAAAAYYYYY off too...

I've heard he's smart enough to be a doctor, or anything else he wanted to do. His dad is still on here, occasionally, so he'd be the best source of information, obviously. But yes, he does still have eligibility left, and I imagine we'll see him playing somewhere next season. Lots of teams would like to have him on their roster, no doubt.

It's a very unfortunate situation at Texas right now. The BMDs (Big Money Donors) have mostly already decided Strong is not the answer. So they are actually kinda rooting for another mediocre, at best, season so they can pull trigger on him this time next year.

It's good that our former Gilmer coach has other offers in the college ranks. He may have to take one as soon as 12 months from now.

Atta boy! He kind of reminds me of one of those big, burly, Big 10 lineman. It will be fun to watch him in that conference!

I don't "like" tu at all but I am not that "blind" to know that ther are damd few schools in the U.S. that can provide the education oppertunities that the University of Texas has to offer. Specially for a kid like Raulerson. He knows somethings coming and wants no part of it.

I got to talk to him for a while at the state game and he told me where he plans on going, but I will let him announce. Dude has gotten big; he said he was a 302 lbs now. Went to Texas at 260.

Jake Raulerson in Town

Offensive lineman Jake Raulerson, a graduate transfer from Texas, arrived in Ann Arbor on Thursday for an official visit with the Wolverines and the coaching staff.

It remains to be seen if a commitment on this visit will take place or not, but many signs point to the Wolverines as being the best fit for his services.

Raulerson has already gotten his degree from Texas, so he would be eligible to play right away and would likely be in the mix to start at center next season, along with Patrick Kugler.

Probably showing my ignorance here, but is he looking to go Pro? What is his reasoning for continuing to play when he could just go to school? If the NFL were interested couldn't he just declare for the draft now?

Don't know if this is related but it made me think. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/ncaaf-dr-saturday/michigan-pulls-offer-from-longtime-recruit-weeks-before-signing-day-183637937.html

It's unrelated but here is his version of the story. NCAA rules prohibit Michigan from commenting.

Erik Swenson Opens Up About Decommitment

Swenson is uncommitted for the first time in nearly three years.
Brandon Brown - TheWolverine

As the first commitment in Michigan’s 2016 recruiting class, Downers Grove (Ill.) Downers Grove South offensive tackle Erik Swenson verbally pledged to U-M when he was just a sophomore, back in 2013. As of today, he’s no longer a Wolverine.

“I wish it didn’t come down to this,” Swenson sadly said.

The four-star Swenson, ranked as the No. 227 prospect in the country and No. 2 in Illinois, is very disappointed that he won’t wear a winged helmet, but says he understands how it went down.

“It’s a business,” he said. “I understand the decision; I just wish they gave me more time.”

With just two weeks until signing day, Swenson does have to scramble a bit, but as a 6-5, 300-pound talented offensive lineman, he’ll have options.

“A lot of schools contacted me these past two days,” he said. “I’ll find a good home. I’m just waiting to hear back to see which schools have spots left.”

Swenson and his family claim to have just found out about the development, but other coaches seemed to know this was coming.

“I guess Michigan leaked it at the coaches meetings,” Swenson said. “I think other coaches knew about it before I did.”

Moving forward, Swenson will be fine, but he can’t help but feel for other Michigan commits. He’s certain that some of his former future teammates will go through the same deal.

“I think it’s happening to other guys in the class right now and more to come maybe. It’s sad,” he said. “Michigan is 100% full right now. If a higher-ranked kid commits, a committee kid in that same position will be taken away. I know there are several other kids that are worried.

“I don’t want to say any names, but basically any position that Michigan is still recruiting right now, those committed kids aren’t safe. If they play a position that’s still being recruited, they could be asked to go elsewhere.”

After being committed for over two years, Swenson just feels like Michigan’s practices might come back to haunt them.

“It’s all coming out right now,” he said.

What about the other side of the story? Click here for more on Swenson's decommitment and what our sources are telling us what they believe really went down.

UCLA it is. Would've loved the experience and added depth he would've brought to Michigan's O-line.
