The Gilmer Buckeyes Broadcasting team is very excited to announce that we will produce our first ever Live Video Stream for this Friday's Class 4A DII Semifinals between the Gilmer Buckeyes and Celina Bobcats. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST at Mesquite ISD's Memorial Stadium.

The game can be viewed Live at http://www.nfhsnetwork.com/events/gilmer-gilmer-tx/ab85f75c2a

To watch the Live Video Stream (with audio provided by the Buckeyes Broadcast team) you will need to purchase a 24 Hour Day Pass for $9.95.

When you purchase the Day Pass, 50% of the proceeds go to Gilmer High School!

I had been toying with the idea of heading east for this one. But, choosing between driving seven hours or spending $9.95
For a video stream is a no brainier.

I would think that would actually cut into revenue for the two schools, and reduce the number of walk up fans. Heck, that's even cheaper than going to the game.

I know the original intent for the NFHS Network started innocently enough as a viewing option for out-of-state family and fans. It also added another cash flow for the UIL.

Also, I'll be watching for sure, but I'll have it on mute and play the Celina broadcasters over top of the feed.

NFHS broadcasts are archived. You'll just need to sign up for a free account. Then just search Celina, and choose to 'follow' them. Eventually - not sure how long - the NFHS Network will release the broadcast as a free replay event.

Maybe that's why they waited until the day before the game to announce this.

There is also the chance of "technical difficulties." That's why I wouldn't want to depend on this.

Another big reason to go, though, is that the high tomorrow in Mesquite is supposed to be around 80 with no chance of precipitation so it'll be way better weather than we deserve at this point in December.

Last year's weather was really good for this game, too.

I am still working on my wife. Actually took the day off today to try to get all of it done so I'll be free tomorrow night. Fingers crossed!!!!!!! I know this will be a 2010 Carthage/Brownwood type game and I don't want to miss it.

I thought it was against uil rules to broadcast Friday night games live because it would hurt attendance.

That rule, I believe, is reserved for regular season play. Also, I know the UIL gets a chunk of the change from the NFHSnetwork.com feed, so if they're stuffing their pockets, they're fine.
