To RBarker; I am really surprised that only 6 of the top ten are from Region III-Lorena, La Grange, Jasper, Barbers Hill, Crockett, Lufkin Hudson....I would think Barbers Hill and several others from Reg. III would be ranked higher than Van and Yoakum. BH, seems to be handling their District very well. Bridge City is so dominate, only Buna, a prepetual playoff team has given them a challenge-it ended 11-7, BC.....BC has lost 6 games, to folks like PNG, Lumberton and traded wins with Louisiana's best big enrollment teams. They have not been challenged now for a long time. They tend to dominate 3A type teams. Good luck to BH, we will met you in the finals of Region III, if all goes as expected!

I hope BC & BH can make it that far also. As you know these rankings don't mean anything once the playoffs start. BH is in a little weaker district this year than the last. I think BH should do well in the playoffs if our team can stay healthy, they are having a heck of a run right now and i wish them the best. Bridge City is out of the top ten but I know that they a lurking in the top 20 and should make some noise in REG III. Good luck to the Cardinals.

There is a kid in Dist. 5-3A that is getting some pro scouts notice. Heath Taylor from Bowie.
50.1 innings pitched so far this season, 127 strikeouts, and 0.38 era.

Anyone out there have similar stats?

Anyone out there have similar stats?Adrian Alaniz, Sinton's senior ace, has never suffered a loss in his four-year varsity career. He's already signed on to play for the University of Texas next season and as of last year (his junior season) reportedly had a fastball which could hit 90. Don't know that for a fact, but I do know for a fact that he is very good. I also don't know his stats, but I'm sure someone like Pirate4state or Sinton75 could tell you something else about the kid.

I don't know if Alaniz would have as many K's as your boy. He hasn't pitched too many innings because Sinton has run-ruled just about everyone in district play. Also, Sinton's #2 guy probably also has stats similar to Alaniz's. Jason Adams was the winning pitcher in last year's State Championship and would be the ace on 95% of all the other teams out there, 3A or not.

Trust me from experience that Adrian's fastball has increased in velocity. He can bring it about 93-94 now. Loves to throw it on the hands.

94 MPH, huh? That's pretty darned fast. I don't doubt it, though. I was talking to a scout at a game last year who told me that the kid has hit 90. By the way, how are you guys doing? I heard you were the only team in the District that gave Sinton a full game. Is John David your ace? If so, how's he doing?

Hannibal

If we could put together a complete game, we would be much better. Also have had many things outside the foul lines to contend with. We are sitting in 3rd in district right now. Blew two games against the Pirates at the lake. John David is starting to come around. He is not real comfortable as a starter, more as a closer. Ernie has been pitching as well. If we could have worked with him for four years, he would be very dominate. Had one of your old high school buddies call for us at the lake.

Kaufman should be nowhere near Forney on that poll, Kaufman doesnt have a decent bat on that team so i dont see how you could be ranked 10th with no hitting!!

I Just read that Lufkin Hudson took out #4 Jasper 7-6 that same team has already defeated my #7 Barbers Hill Eagles 8-7 during a tour. this year. Better keep an eye on this team they are playing some good ball.

I agree RBarker, about Hudson being strong! I looks like 20-3A and 21-3A going down to the line for District Championships. Problem is, the runnerups and third place teams will also be viable threats to anyone in the playoffs. Hudson and H-F are alike in that they can take out anyone on a given night, if they get their bats working!

He picked up that loss? I heard one of the relievers got credited with that, but my source wasn't actually from Sinton.

OK everyone, one loss in four years.

Sinton66 & BDR,

There has been MUCH debate about this game & whether or not Adrian picked up that loss. I did not attend this game so I don't have first hand knowledge, BUT one of the player's father told me that Adrian left with the lead. Which should answer right away the question of whether or not he gets the loss, BUT there were conflicting stories in the Caller (big surprise) & a lot of people have been saying he got that loss. If you go to www.sintonisd.net (http://www.sintonisd.net) you will see that S. Skrobarcek (sp?) is credited with the loss. You make up your own mind based on the box score. I don't think Coach K's stats are incorrect, but he did get in trouble in the 5th inning ... and that is when he was replaced, while he still had the lead.

Either way, he has had (and I hope it will continue) an awesome career & we all (Sinton fans) look forward to seeing him & the rest of the squad defend their title!!

GO PIRATES!!!!

dont know about what happen in that game other than they were winning til king made a comeback .He could still have been the losing pitcher when he left the game if the go ahead run was on base and it scored even though somebody else might had given up the run. but dont know if he left the game with anybody on base.

BDR and Pirate4state, you can count on Coach K's stats. I haven't talked with him lately, but if he says it wasn't Adrian's loss, then you can definitely believe it. The district site did have him credited with the loss earlier and was apparently modified after someone pointed out the mistake. Either way, he is definitely one of the best in the state.

latest poll out as of 4/14/03.
1. Lorena (17-0)
2. LaGrange (19-1)
3. Sinton (18-4)
4. Yoakum (15-3)
5. Van (14-2)
6. Barbers Hill (19-2) :D
7. Crockett (17-4)
8. Forney (16-3)
9. Kaufman (15-2)
10. Jasper (19-3)

Jasper drops from 4 to 10. A little harsh for one lose.

Hi RBarker: I agree Jasper and Hudson have mighty good teams. I still think Bridge City and Barbers Hill will emerge to play for the Title in Region III. Do you know who Crockett has lost to? Or are they one of those that has played 2A and 3A weak sisters? Poll can be deceptive, Bridge City has worked over Little Cypress- Mauriceville several times yet they are winning that big good 4A District undefeated. BH has been playing good defense, from what I am hearing..... Erikson, from Hardin-Jefferson is an excellent pitcher, and they might whip some unsuspecting folks when the Bracket play begins. He has already signed for a 4 year scholarship to pitch for Lamar University. Boy that was something, Lamar taking out the #1 College Poll team recently.

That IS pretty rough...to lose one game and drop that far. Maybe this will give Coach Mixon and the kids a little incentive the rest of the way.
