(10-2) Brownwood Lions vs. (10-2) Mineral Wells Rams at Shotwell Stadium (Abilene)

Third Round! So nice to have a run in the playoffs again. I know what game looms around the corner, but we have to focus on the task at hand.

Both these teams have proved alot this season by showing they're no push-overs. I predict a long night for Mineral Wells two quarterback system thanks to our stingy defense. I'll be curios how the coaching staff decides to tackle this one, as last week rather than our typical get pressure on the quarterback quickly, we only rushed three (due to his quick release) and dropped back the rest, making him have to throw into tighter windows, and it worked. I think our offense should roll compared to last week due to some small injuries that kept us from playing guys alot last week. Hopefully that means less pressure on Grant, as one thing we need to see from him is that prolific passer we saw in the first part of the year. I still think we are the better team and should win this one, nut I know the boys are not taking this game lightly. For some comparison here are teams that are common on the schedule.

Both teams are showing that they are to be reckoned with, that being said I predict the Lions will take this by 14.

Thanks for the vote of confidence bearbear78, we are striving to become a better team, I personally think a year ahead of where we belong, but very entertaining! Not being boastful, but I think also the Lions will be pretty loud the next few seasons.

Thanks bear! This team is maximizing their opportunities, and thats all you can ask of the young men, as a fan. From our history, we know that there's no guarantee of future success, even when it seems like you have more talent next year.....we have been victim of that before.....so I think that's why the boys are playing like they are.....to them, the time is now.

I like what we have coming back, but I have to say that I'm darn proud of this team and their 'pounding the rock' mentality.

Speaking of....I always had a lot of respect for the Steers program and this year, it has grown even more....you don't dodge anyone pre-district and whether they are 10-0 or 5-5 entering the playoffs, they are coming to play and will always find a way to execute. I'm glad we played yall twice and thankful we were able to squeak out 2 victories, because it has made us better for this year, and hopefully for next year....

I think that has less to do with the lions themselves, and more to do with the fans. It's right around where I predicted it as being a two score game.
As far as yalls coach, I wouldn't call him the next Art Briles yet, but I do believe he has yall on the right track. Good luck next year!

Had more to do with adjustments at half due to weather and a 20-0 lead at half, than MW playing tougher. We gave you the wind at half, remember, and you used it well. We ran the clock and pounded the rock, took the wind and ran the clock. No question that MW was a good team and maybe the progam is headed in the right direction, I hope for fans!
